OT: What happened to Brian Grant?
Remember when this guy battled Karl Malone to a stalemate in the 1999 playoffs? Remember when he forced Mike Dunleavy to move Rasheed Wallace to small forward, because there was no way in hell you could bench Brian?
What happened to him? He really fell off the face of the earth once we traded him. Anyone have any ideas why his talent seemingly vanished into thin air?

He's mostly a banger. I'm guessing that took it's toll on him. He's also somewhat under-sized, particularly when asked to play center. He's had his share of health issues over the years, too. In fact, in his ten year career, he's only manage basically full seasons half the time. I've enjoyed cheering for him and, as Hap suggests, I'm thinking he's really not that great a player.

He actually played great for a year or two in Miami, then faded rapidly.
He went the way of most players that get their fat contract ... down the drain.

Battled is right. Remember when Malone elbowed Grant in the head in game 5 and Grant got in Malones face and told him what was what - Malone was ineffective for the rest of that game and for all of game 6.

Who could forget that? I have to agree with Portorin2004. Life in the NBA paint has taken it's tole on BG. He shows flashes of his old self, but he can't do that everynight anymore. Remember the poundings Shaq put on him? I still cringe when I think of BG trying to guard the big fella in the 2000 series. Even though his game had it's limitations, it was a luxary having him in his prime. Just when defenses would forget about him, he'd pop out and can a 15', often in crunch time. He gave you 100% every night. Something Rasheed Wallace doesn't even think is possible (see his quote from earlier in the week) Now I understand why Grant wanted that big contract--he knew his body couldn't hold up for more than 5 years or so at that pace (& with that pounding)
