does anyone else think some of the players (like Ruben and Joel) should just stop shaving for the rest of the season?

I must say, I am becoming more and more impressed with the physical play of Joel. If he can learn to handle himself and avoid fouls and turnovers then we have a decent center, although I'd love us to have someone better and him be our backup.

Other than falling for pump-fakes inducing fouls....Pryzbilla had a great game.
He was active, he stayed with his man on D, he was at the rim for put-backs and even hit some of his FT's.
Good job, Joel.

he did a pretty good job of avoiding his 6th foul, and finished with 41 minutes.
the thing with Joel is that it doesn't seem like most of his fouls are accidents. I think he's just used to getting marching orders from the coach that say "protect the basket at all costs," so he fouls guys to make them earn it at the line. he's had no delusions that he should be careful because he could receive big minutes.
that is definitely going to change if he has more games even remotely similar to last night. if he can give us 10 points, 10 rebs and a couple blocks a night, he's a top 10 NBA center, maybe top 5.

I don't know about a top 5 center, but he is definitely worth consideration as a starting center. He is still young (26 I think) and is an active, aggressive post presence. Good move by Nash.
I think Pryzbilla is a perfect example of it taking 4-5 years for a center to develop in the NBA. He falls right in that timeline.

I am absolutely thrilled with Joel's contributions so far. Anyone remember all the hype about him before he was drafted? Looks to me like some other NBA teams gave up on him WAY too early.
I know he's young and still has a lot of growing (skill-wise) to do, but I really like what I'm seeing from Joel this season. IMO, acquiring him was an excellent move by Nash and the rest of the Blazers' brass.
GO GO PRZYBILLA!

It is plain to me. Joel deserves to start over Theo.
He has been better all year long. Better offensivley(Who would have thought Joel would be better than anyone offensivley), better rebounding, better defensivley. He just isnt as good a shot blocker, but is still a above average shot blocker.

Theo Ratliff didn't average 3.5 blocks a game until his third season.
Brad Miller wasn't an All-Star caliber center until his 5th season (and he left a horrible team).
Ben Wallace became a double digit rebounder in season 5.
Zydrunas Ilgauskas never became a consistent scorer and consistently on the floor until the fifth season.
all these guys had better stats leading up to when they exploded, but you never know if it's just because Joel wasn't in the right situation.
I can really see this guy develop into a workmanlike center in the mold of the Indiana version of Dale Davis, only bigger and with better shot blocking. a nine point, nine or ten rebound, two blocks a night center. the kind of center you can dunk on, but you'll get a bruise to show for it.
in the current NBA, it's a nice steal to just pick up a guy like that as a free agent.

Nope. After his sophomore year, but he spent part of his second collegiate season suspended from the team for academic reasons, so you were close to correct
