Trade Idea: POR/NO
Here's a thought for a trade Idea...
Portland Trades
Shareef Abdur Rahim
Qyntel Woods
Sergei Monia (or '05 1st)
to New Orleans for
Jamaal Mashburn
PJ Brown
2005 1st rnd pick
Essentially Portland is relieveing NO of $18 mil iof salary for next summer (Mash and Browns Combined Salary), and basically is moving up in the draft, should be no worse than a top 5 pick, unless a miracle happens.
Brown is a very competent backup at the 4, but overpaid. Mashburn is paid appropriately for when he is healthy, unfortunately that has been a while. The key here is moving up in the draft, but we would have to make this move beofore the deadline, as Shareef would not be elligable to trade after the season.
This deal should put the Hornets about 10 under the cap. I am sure they would want to still add a young player, so thats why I have us exchanging picks.
What do you guys think?

PJ Brown is a decent backup for sure, and he does interest me despite his age.... but getting Mash, not only complicates and overcrowds the SF spot, but we will pay him for his duration of his contract and probably not see him play.
Plus this does not get us a shooter while giving up a valuable trading chip in Rahim
so sorry.. I would pass as well.

Horrible trade, however that 1st round draft pick looks good...But i dont think that they would be dumb enough to give anybody that pick...
