Lightbulb Blazers should convince Van Exel to play 1 more year! Makes sense!

Assuming Damon does leave like Quick thinks(it does make sense damon will leave) I was thinking maybe the Blazers let van exel start one more season and let telfair be the main backup with nobody else. This way Van Exel still could give us another 3 point shot while telfair gets more experience and a consistant jumper.

I think this could work as long as Van Exel wouldnt mind doing one more year and helping telfair take over at some point and since it would be van exels last year...why not.

I just think we need Damon or Van Exel to stay cause Telfair might be a solid backup but hes not close tobeing a starter!

If we could get even a decent SG at some point...we would have a nice team next year.

Do you think theres anyway Van Exel would do 1 more year, therefore signing a 1 year deal....id think it would be worth it for the blazers to convince him to stay 1 more year and then maybe ride off into the sunset.

He has a team option for one more year, so if the Blazers excersized it they would have to pay him almost 13 mil. I'm not sure that would be very good business.

Mixum, I think it's a good idea, van exel would be a good tutor for telfair and we certainly need some experience at PG. Maybe that light treatment he has been using on his knees has helped and he would feel like playing one more year. I think the Blazers could choose to not exercise the option, release him and resign him at a lower price if he would agree to it.

ASk yourself this question. Would you accept that deal.

"Hey Ukrainefan instead of making 12.7 mil this year we'd like to waive you and re-sign you for 1 or 2 million. I know you want to retire or play in Texas, but what do you think?"

I think that one of the reasons Van Exel is playing so well is because he is playing like he's not gonna play again. This guy will be one year older next year. He's hurt a lot. I think this is his last hurrah and we shouldn't count on him. I'd rather try to resign Damon. And we better hope Telfair is as good as everyone thinks he is.

I like Nick, and I am glad he is playing well, but my hopes are he is dealt at the trade deadline to a playoff team, where he COULD make a major impact.

Get some youth for him, having him here does nothing but float above water.....barely.

Although his jumper will be missed....it would be a mistake to resign NVE next season. The Blazers really need to trade him to recoup the assets. It doesn't really matter whether it is a player or a draft pick. Letting him go is far worse for the Blazers.

No thanks, we cant have a guard who can barely play or count on next season.

NVE is having a nice run right now, but we are pushing his minutes and eventually it will catch up.

I also hope he gets traded to a playoff team and we can get some youth, where he can have a impact.

Two weeks ago, the general consensus on this forum was that Van Exel was done and couldn't even shoot anymore.

Now people are talking about him playing another year with the Blazers?

Is it too much to ask for a little consistancy from my basketball forum?
