Last night's attendance = 16,402?
That's ridiculous! There wasn't more than 12,000 people there max!

I was there, too. And yes, it was empty. Welcome to the world of being 10 games under .500 in a city with one of the worst economies in the nation.
The announced will always be higher than the actual. There's a boatload of season ticket holders who no longer go to the games but can't get out of their contracts and can't sell or give away their tickets. Those seats, while they sit empty, are considered "sold" and are part of the reported attendance.

He's right! And tickets donated to charity's or given to sponsors etc. count towards the attendance too, regardless if the people show up to the game. Every team in the league uses these same policys, its not just the Trail Blazers.
