Is D.A. playing hooky from the team?
Dental pain, my ***.
From the letter to the editor in today's Sports Section in The Oregonian:
Quote:
I was at a West Linn McDonald's Monday night. It was around [editor or writer left time out] when a chromed-out Hummer H2 pulled into the drive-through.
West Linn is home for various Blazers players, so I went to the window for a closer look. Upon further inspection, I confirmed that Derek Anderson and his wife were in the vehicle.
Anderson was leaning back in the passenger seat, apparently trying to get his meal as cladestinely as possible, but in that particular car you can only be so inconspicuous.
I didn't think a lot of it until I got home and realized the Blazers had a game in progress! I didn't understand why D.A. would not be there. I looked for him on the bench, and he was nowhere to be found.
The following morning, I read his absence was due to "dental pains." Up to this point I considered Derek to have one of, if not the best, character on the team. After this experience, I can't help but to question his commitment and loyalty to the team.
With the team playing the league's best in San Antonio, and important revenge and statement game at home, he should have at least been in casual attire cheering and supporting his teammates.
This left a sour taste in my mouth, and his actions leave a lot to be desired for this disappointed Blazers fan.

Take it for what it's worth. It's a second-hand story from someone none of us know. Although it seems pretty legit (other than D.A. being with his "wife" - to my knowledge, he isn't married).
I found it pretty interesting nonetheless.

I think it all points to DA being on the trading block.
But then again, I thought Shareef's hyperextended elbow was caused by excessive waving 'bye-bye' to the team.

"The following morning"... Look, DA is a stand-up guy (or has been). I've had a ton of dental problems and I can tell you that it's nearly impossible to jump with an impacted wisdom tooth...
For now, I'm certainly willing to give DA the benefit of the doubt.

Is that what DA has? I haven't see any description of his "dental problem" that is that specific.
Maybe he truly was in pain, but apparently he wasn't hurting badly enough to stay away from McDonald's junk food. And if he can go to McDonald's, why can't he go to the Rose Garden and sit on the bench with his teammates?

Meanwhile while other teams make trades....
Nash has been seen at the Olive Garden 4 times in the last month!
They have no drive thru though!

1st off I believe DA lives in Lake Oswego, not West Linn. @ndly there's nothing like a good old milkshake when your mouth hurts.

Do all NBA players eat fast food? I thought they'd all be on strict diets, but this and the popcorn.. Professional athletes, aren't they?

I don't care what DA eats, or drinks. What I have a problem with is that he wasn't at the game. If he wasn't home in bed, or at the hospital he should have been there to support his teammates.
