OT: Super Bowl
I'm curious how many people would even look at this thread!!!?????
For those that did:
Patriots 24
Eagles 21
Turnovers did in the Eagles. Another great defensive game by the Pats.
It'll be interesting to see if the Pats get back again after the mass exedus of assistant coaches!!??
Good night all.

I thought it was a good game. McNabb was off just enough to be the difference. And also very poor clock management at the end on the Eagles part.

I found myself wondering why the Superbowl is so much bigger of a spectacle than the NBA championship. I suppose part of it is that there's only one game instead of a best of seven series. And then there's the fact that the game is in a stadium that can seat 4-5 times what an NBA arena can. But even so, the magnitude of attention that game garners compared to the NBA finals is incredible. Two former presidents, a half-time concert by Paul McCartney, specially made commercials, and viewership that's off the chart compared to the NBA finals.
The NBA finals may be Faaaan-tastic, but they pale in comparison to the Superbowl extravaganza.

Pete Rozelle was a marketing genius and made the Super Bowl into an unofficial national festival. It's now just part of the culture...even non-football fans will watch because...it's the Super Bowl.
As for the actual game, I enjoyed it. It was a close affair, as I expected. McNabb generally played well but made a few awful mistakes that cost the Eagles the game. The Patriots didn't play their usual hyper-disciplined game, but their extreme balance was, like all their Super Bowls, just enough to barely prevail.

Minstrel,
Would you now consider Brady as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all- time or is he still just a good QB?

When you look at ALL the talent that Brady has around him...both on the offensive and defensive fronts (which leads to good field position), I'd say that he is a very good player, although it is hard to call him as one of the best of all time....yet.
He's pretty consistant and can run the team...and does all of the usual quarterback things pretty well, although he doesn't have the mobility of vick/mcnabb, he is the stereotypical QB and does a good job playing within his system.
So I think he's good and very possibly will continue to build and create a legacy, but he still isn't there yet.

He has the calmest demeanor of any QB in the league...He doesnt have great recievers and doesnt have to be the main focus of the offense to win.....He has won 2 superbowl MVP's and is now 9-0 in the playoffs....In 2002 the year that the Pats didnt win the superbowl Brady led the league in TD passes.....
You also have to remember that he is only 27 years old.....I would say the futures bright......lol

He's a very good quarterback. Clear top-ten, arguable top-five in the league today.
No, I don't consider him one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time. Had he been drafted by the Bengals, you'd never have heard of him. He's a good talent who runs an incredibly balanced team with no weaknesses very efficiently.
The "greatness" of this team lies in Belichek and Pioli in putting together a team of replaceable, above average parts that never breaks the budget and can't be exploited in any facet of the game. It's truly a genius architecture.
Brady will make the Hall of Fame, because any multiple Super Bowl-winning quarterback is guaranteed entrance but I think Dillon is their only truly Hall of Fame talent.
Prior to Dillon, Rodney Harrison or Ty Law were their best individual talents, in my opinion.

Belichick and Vinatieri will both be in the hall of fame as well......Hadn't it been for Vinatieri the Patriots wouldnt be the dynasty they are......

I was only talking about players. I agree Belichek is a likely Hall of Famer right now.
Adam Vinateri could, I suppose. He's been a very good kicker, but he's from an era of some very good kickers, includng Vinateri, Olinda Mare, Mike Vanderjagt, John Carney and perhaps the best place-kicker of all-time, in my opinion, Jason Elam.
Since Morten Andersen is still around, I suppose you could throw him (a surefire, but cross-generational, Hall of Famer) into the above group.
