Im beginning to question the blazers commitment to winning.
I got this quote from another blazer froum and hes 100% right!
Funny how denver and minnesota are not even as bad as the blazers but fire there coaches. But portland doesn't fire there's or make any trades i guess they like playing in an empty arena night in and night out.
Thats is so true.
i just think Nash is an idiot but patterson and Allen cant be to smart either if they havent made a change by now!

It's not the same. Denver and Minnesota both had far greater expecations than Portland and more talented rosters, which is why their head coaches were fired when they underachieved. If Portland had Kevin Garnett on their team, or Kenyon Martin, Carmelo Anthony, Andre Miller and Marcus Camby on their team and weren't in the playoffs, Cheeks would likely be fired. But as it is now, Portland's doing about as well as they "should" be based on their preseason expectations and their talent. You don't see Bernie Bickerstaff being fired in Charlotte, do you? Of course not, because they weren't expected to compete this season. Neither were the Blazers.

hobojoe is right
realistically it was going to be a stretch for the Blazers to make any real impact this year - we arent 'rebuilding' but we have been in a gradual slope. We have some things to be optimistic about but rarely do our hopes match real life.
we currently have a team that, on its night, can destroy topflight clubs and then the next night get thumped by the cellar dwellers.
id rate this squad about a 6 on average but feel we'll be a 5 by the end of the season. the team lacks drive and direction and next season is another big question mark. if nothing can be made of these expiriing contracts prepare for another tough season.

I agree with you
Just because the Blazers do not have a great team does not mean they cannot go after a better coach while they are available. You improve your team through any avenues you can, and if you have a shot to get a coach who you would find acceptable in the position and who you think could help improve the team, you pull the trigger.
Do any of you remember what happened the last time the Blazers looked for a coach? Let's see. If I remember right, they were used by Flip Saunders to get more salary out of Minnesota. They were flat out turned down by others. Then they chose Cheeks. What should Portland have learned from this? They should have taken away that when a coach is available who you would find desirable to coach your team, you should pull the trigger and snag them while they are there. But no, they continue in their ways.
I also disagree that another coach could not have coaxed more wins out of this team. How many close games have their been where a few posessions that could have gone better would have made the difference. A lot. A good coach could have got Portland an easy 5 more wins, and be in the hunt for 8th spot.

I have to be honest. I don't have a clue what the Blazers are doing. They don't appear to be pursuing trades--they say they'll let the expirings come off the books. So, are they rebuilding? Then, why'd we sign Theo and Zach for so much $$$? I sort of understand Z-bo because he's young, but not Theo if you're rebuilding. I would love to know what Allen, Nash, Patterson are up to. I keep thinking that they might have something up their sleve we don't know about (a trade) that changes everything. But, they aren't even mentioned in many rumors anymore. Sure, I've been pleasantly surprised with glimpses from Telfair and Pryz. But, we need so much more. Where do they think they are going to get the player (s) to get them back to the playoffs and start filling up seats again? Blazer fans have had it. Thing is, I can see it getting worse. If This team continues to lose games while playing vets that aren't going to be here next year? The Rose garden will be a ghost town in April.
