Re: OT - Report: Lakers Land Boozer
If the Lakers get Boozer for that price, what a bargain that is for LA.
The Jazz must think that Andrei's only going to thrive at the 4 spot, because he's going to be a nice fit with Odom and it seems he might have been the same with a healthy Kirilenko.

Re: OT - Report: Lakers Land Boozer
Why did the Jazz give up on him so soon? Wasn't he expected to be the other half of a great frontcourt with Okur.
If this goes thru as reported; I don't get it from Jazz standpoint.

same reason why so many blazer fans are already giving up on Theo. Short-sightedness

Where's the Deal? Fox Sports reports Boozer traded to Lakers
Quote:
Jack Haley was known more for towel waving and cheering than dunks or rebounds during his NBA career. Now a member of Fox Sports Net, Haley has either scooped everyone on a major NBA trade (trumping the likes of Ford, Stein and Aldridge) or he's the unfortunate victim of bad information.
Haley is reporting the Lakers will trade Vlade Divac, Caron Butler and Devean George to the Utah Jazz in exchange for big man Carlos Boozer, pending league approval. However since Fox Sports posted the article early Monday afternoon there has been no other confirmations in other major media outlets. Jazz owner Larry Miller and VP Kevin O'Conner have dismissed the reports.
Alternate scenarios are appearing in other main stream media sources with the Chicago Tribune's Sam Smith writing that the Jazz may receive Butler, Luke Walton and Slava Medvedenko for Boozer, though other players would have to be involved to match salaries.
The NBA's trade deadline is Thursday.

Haley couldn't have been wrong could he? Sounds like he got wind of a trade rumor kinda like Ian over at the fan got wind of a deal with Portland and Toronto a few weeks back.

Actually Howie it's come out that Furness was flat out right about that trade. I remember hearing Damon on CMN awhile back saying that he had heard from top level people in Toronto and agents involved saying that it was a done deal. I'm not sure what happened, but from all accounts that trade was all but dotted and crossed.

Re: OT - Report: Lakers Land Boozer
This trade was in the trade winds for a bit now, and the Jack Haley bit was in a thread yesterday in the rumors forum I believe. You can also read the article in the LA Times.
Its surpising to me its being rehashed again today...
it seemingly does not seem to have any roots to it except speculation, and the thought a 3 for 1 trade is just rumored
but somtimes denial is the best confirmation of something valid in the GM world
we shall see

You kinda missed my point, I guess I deleted part of it and didn't edit so that is my fault. My point being that someone will get blamed for the trade not going down, much like the Portland / Toronto deal, and I listed a certain someone to play the blame game.
I might have been better not even to post the post without all it's flare. You would think that I would know better by now.

from what those in the know said, (and not just fans who refuse to blame anyone but John Nash because we all know every trade that we stupid fans come up with that he doesn't do have to be his fault) Toronto backed out and wanted to try to force Portland to accept Rose (by implying they had a "better deal" (Nets trade)), and Portland said "screw you, you aren't going to play with us again"...and this called the Raptors bluff, and they got hosed in the trade because they tried to screw Portland over.
So in the end, they got screwed over. And got exactly what they deserved.
And some fans still refuse to believe that because they just like to blame nash for everything because it's easier than actually looking things up and finding out facts.

That's ok I added to your rep points anyway. I wasn't even as harsh as MOST East German judges.
