OT: interesting Laker rumors (merged)
originally stolen from Alson Wong, but also in the lakers forum:
Quote:
FSN reported tonight that the proposed trade is Vlade, George, and Butler for Boozer. They also reported that the Kings may be looking to trade
Stojakovic and Bobby Jackson for a deal including Odom.
|
The Boozer trade isn't too bad, but if the Kings are stupid enough to trade Peja to the Lakers, ESPECIALLY for *only* Odom, they don't deserve to have a team anymore.
Although I bet it's more likely the Lakers are asking about Peja and Bobby, and are offering Odom, and the Kings are laughing at them. The Kings window has been nailed shut, but they aren't stupid.

A lot of posters on the Lakers board (of another site) think that the trade might be for SAR. I'd post the link, but I know that it's considered to be spam, so I won't. However, many of them seemed to be interested in SAR, but weren't trying to include Odom in the deal. They were also saying that they wouldn't mind giving up Butler, but as we both know SAR and Butler's contracts are light years away from being within 15% of eachother's. So, I guess the *real* question, is: Who else would be included to make the deal work, if Odom isn't involved? It certainly better not be Brian Grant's ENORMOUS contract. I like BG, the man and the player, but not the contract that would come along with him. Obviously, I'd much rather let SAR, Damon, and NVE walk at the end of the season if that were the case.

posting a link to another site isn't spam, as long as you're doing it to show a story, and not promote the site.

It's not much, but they appear to be ALL OVER what this Jack Haley character has been saying.

While I would agree with you personally, I'm surprised at the number of people on the Kings board that believe Peja and Bobby need to be traded. Its possible that something is in the works, but I certainly think more then Odom would be required.

Re: OT: interesting Laker rumors
Geez, If I were LA then I definately would not touch those trades unless they were to both happen. For example, if only the trade for Boozer went down then they would really be hurting for a center, not to mention (more importantly) being double stacked at PF with Odom and Boozer (like us with Randolph/SAR). I know that Odom can play the 3...but look at the difference it made when he went to the Heat and played the 4 for them.
Anyways, I can certainly see how both of those deals can help the Lakers in the long term, as a core of Kobe/Peja/Boozer isn't too bad, especially is they get a decent center (crap...we need to resign joel NOW) and a decent PG (which Bobby Jackson can hold down the fort for a while).
I guess the more important thing is if the other teams are really willing to participate...and I haven't considered any monitary issues involved with the trade, which could certainly make an impact.

Re: OT: interesting Laker rumors
Oooops, I was just reading the most recent posts to the link that I provided above, and they said it was confirmed that the trade was supposed to be for Boozer. Butler + Divac + George for Boozer is what they said was reported on SCSR (Souther California Sports Report; which is on FSN). Also, that the Lakers had inquired about Peja and B-Jax, possibly for Odom.

Re: OT: interesting Laker rumors
Actually Odom would be much better off at the 3. He really can't defend the other 4s. I think it would be terrible for them to do both trades as they would be dumping a good defender (Odom) for 2 players who have never heard of Defense. It's not like they are playing good defense as is. Anyways, Allstar time is always exciting, so many trade rumors flying.

Re: OT: interesting Laker rumors
I don't understand why people think Utah is so hot to move Boozer. Aside from AK47, he's the only think they have going for them...to trade him for a loser like Odom would be stupid.

thats one thing I never get with teams. They sign a player because of what he'll do over the lifetime of hte contract...and they give up on him so soon.
I understand when fans do it, we're generally short term thinkers, and have short attention spans..but it's Utah's fault for signing him to such a HUGE contract, when they knew the Cavs couldn't come close to re-signing him.

Re: OT: interesting Laker rumors
Or now that he got the huge contract the player feels like he doesnt need to play as hard as he did before....Not sure if this is the case with Boozer....But i get the feeling from certain people in the league that is the case...

I really really want Brian Grant back. Yeah I know he's got a terrible contract and everything but sometimes ... you just have to.

Re: OT: interesting Laker rumors
C.Ford is saying the rumored deal is L.Odom for Boozer with other players being involved.
