OT: Did Carmello throw in the towel?
Hm..

Anthony didn't play in the final 2 minutes, 51 seconds of regulation or during overtime. After the final buzzer, he threw a towel in the general direction of Nuggets coach George Karl, then later declined to speak to the media.

Anthony, who committed five fouls, left the game for good with 2:53 left in regulation and Memphis leading 87-79. Karl was asked in a group media session whether Anthony's foul trouble had anything to do with his exit.
"I'm not going to answer that question," Karl said. "That's absurd that you ask questions like that. We were just trying to win a basketball game and decisions were made based upon who was getting things done. I thought I had other guys playing a little better than he was."
|
interesting...when Maurice doesn't play the "stars" but goes with who is playing good, he's chastised as not knowing how to coach..
about whether or not carmello will be in the lineup for the next game.
Quote:
Will Anthony be in the lineup Sunday at New Orleans?
"We'll see," Karl said. "Hopefully."
|
hm..he's implying he might take the best player out of their starting lineup??
but...when maurice does that, he doesn't know how to coach...

Re: OT: Did Carmello throw in the towel?
Difference..
First we have no stars but could possibly have them if they were not rotting on the bench
Nuggets are a better team, need to do whatever it takes to win, actually fighting for playoff spot.
Second Carmelo is a head case, is bringing down the team more than helping, with his big head.
3rd Cheeks cant coach and Karl knows what he is doing, We dont have any players acting like babys right now, we also have no chance to make the playoffs, so as far as im concerned Sit the players that are leaving next year and play our FUTURE!

No, its just another reason for people to complain about Maurice....Alot of people just dont think he is that good of a coach, so anything he does will be chastised by the fans.....
The reasons why Maurice is the worst coach in basketball is because he is horrible at calling plays, is looked at more as a friend then a coach, and his rotations are retarded.....

Re: OT: Did Carmello throw in the towel?
Actually I would say one of my biggest complaints about Maurice over the years is he DOESN'T leave the guy who's playing well in the game. He's pulled him when he was just getting hot.
Second, I don't see how playing Nick Van Exel or Theo Ratliff could be categorized as "goes with who is playing good"... Van Exel is in a terrible slump, and Ratliff has been inconsistent at best.
Third, guys like Darius Miles and Zach Randolph play better as starters. It's just a fact. I don't see the point in starting a Ruben Patterson or a Nick Van Exel when they are not part of the future of this team.
I love ya Hap, but I think in this case you're off base.

it's one of my complaints too..but the few times he does leave in a guy who's playing good or (in most cases) doesn't insert so and so back in, people will pinch a loaf.

I meant late in game situations.

either do I. But there are probably reasons why Zach wasn't starting, and if Maurice were to flat out say the same thing like Karl said, he'd have his intelligence questioned.

Right... we have stars who are just rotting on the bench. Like who?

We're fighting for a playoff spot just as much as they are. Don't they have 29 losses? We only have 31.

Some say Zach has done that at times.

Karl is the worst coach in the history of organized athletics:
1) Choked on #1 seed in Seattle
2) Took Bucks from 1st place in March to lotto in April
3) Took pro players to World Championships and failed to medal
This guy has revolutionized losing.

We dont have any players acting like babys right now,

A) We have no idea what is happening in the locker room or at practice.
B) Miles quite recently cursed out his coach.
