Re: Anyone notice the change...
I do not read the Oregonian on a regular basis. But usually on am tempted to read the Blazer articles as you all point them out on here.
But I gotta say... its been quite since then.

Re: Anyone notice the change...
You know, I was thinking about the same thing yesterday as I was driving home on the freeway. I was thinking of starting a thread to ask if in fact the Blazers did pull their advertising (did they?). Is there any evidence that the paper now has reduced access to the team?
Maybe the snoregonian will lighten up on the sensationalist vendetta they've had against the Blazers the past several years. It has escalated and escalated to the point of just being ridiculous (and not just the paper -- KATU is especially bad). I think they just ran out of material but were so addicted to the tabloid crap that (except for the dog fighting) they've had to start crafting outrage out of thin air.
Despite CantZano's insistance after his last slander that he's fighting a holy crusade, and the fans are "smarter than that" (meaning everyone agrees with him), I wouldn't be surprised if his tone changes. I think it already has.
Wasn't there a recent poll that showed a significant percentage of respondants blamed the news media for the Blazers' rep more than the team and players? If that's right, it may have as much to do with an attitude shift at the local fish wrap than lost advertising or reduced access.
We'll see.

Re: Anyone notice the change...
Or maybe it was Hap's sign that made them see the light?
But yeah, it does seem like there's been a marked shift in coverage since Patterson read them the riot act (oh, I'm sure he was on the phone to somebody on high at the paper -- or maybe he sent his attorneys after them).

well, crapzano just discounted that by saying that "well, what do you expect from a bunch of 30 year olds who haven't had a date in 10 years?" in regards to the people who voted in that poll.

Re: Anyone notice the change...
One thing I've noticed is that Canzano isn't doing nearly as many Blazer stories, nor is he doing as many Blazer-oriented blog entries. In fact, I have to use the "Miles Document" link at the very bottom of the Blazers page to get to Canzano's blog. Veddy Interestink.

Well, I just read today's version, and he's accusing the Blazers of improper care for the 77 championship trophy. Looks like same old mountains from molehills to me.

Portland's Championship Trophy
I was in the lobby at the Blazers practice facility in Tualatin last week and stopped by the small trophy case that holds the Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy from the 1977 NBA Finals.
I'd never closely inspected the trophy, but it's got some major scratches on the base and looks as though someone, sometime didn't give it the TLC it deserves. I'm sure that can be fixed, though.

I think it needs to be cleaned, but at the same time, I think it's kind of low on the things to complain about, let alone, bring up.

Again, I'm with the many others who think the trophy ought to be on display somewhere Blazers fans can actually go to see it.

Altho I don't remember it being there, it used to be at the MC back in the day. blog blog, everywhere a blog..

Ever since Patterson went public at the halftime of that Rockets game, I have not seen Canzano at any Blazers games....I usually saw him pre game down in the media room.....Now all i see is Dwight Jaynes waddling around, eating all the blueberry muffins.....

Re: Anyone notice the change...
Maybe we can e-mail Canzano that if he would help by writing some positive things about the Blazers, we might just get a new trophy soemtime. Then we could display the new one.
Seriously, why don't they display it in the Rose Garden someplace conspicuous.

the theory is, and I put a lot of credance in this, that when TB took over the team, he wanted to dis-avow any association to the past. Thats why the pictures were taken down @ the blazers HQ of former players, etc..
So whats one way to dissasociate the past with the present? Hide the trophy.
Seriously tho, the new Arena people couldn't make a trophy case for the thing? Is it really that much of a hassle??
