OT: What the hell happened to the Hornets?
They have fallen completley off the charts since we beat them and are now struggling to even stay in playoff contribution. They used to be one of the top teams in the East and were the favorites of many to reach the NBA Finals.
One of the reasons I bring this up too is that sometimes you get a win vs a team that you think is a great team and sometimes you get a loss vs a team that you think is a terrible team but you don't always completely know at the time. Like last year when we thought beating the Bucks was a big win. Little did we know.
Maybe the Bulls, only 3 games out of the playoffs as I type this, will make a strong push into the 5th seed out East. Their early season schedule was absolute murder. Maybe they are a better team that we give them credit for. By the end of the year, we might say we beat the bad teams (Hornets) and lost a few to some of the great teams (Bulls).

They moved out west and lost their best player.
That's what happened.

I think injuries happened to the Hornets. I was hoping they would make some noise this year too...I dont think it has much to do with them moving west though.

Maybe not, but it certainly doesn't help their cause I would say.

Like I tell a guy I work with from NO, Hey Welcome to the Western Conference. .500 ball may get you a mid seed in the East but out here you are towards the bottom of the conference. Injuries are a part along with a new coaching system mixed with playing Western teams 7 times rather then twice a season has something to do with it also.

Especially Baron Davis. They are a totally different team w/o him.

I don't see what the big deal is, Charlotte's doing just fine...
Ironic that all the talk centered on the Bobcats possibly setting the all-time record for futility, but they're set to blast through that mark by mid-season. Meanwhile, the Hornets are poised to limbo right under it.

Yo, this thread was started in January 2003 and you're responding like it was about this year's Hornets!
Kinda funny since it applies to this year but it an entirely different way. The Hornets weren't THAT bad back then, they had just fallen off a little bit and the Bulls are actually three games out of the playoffs right now. I don't remember them being three games out two years ago, but that musta been cuz the East's 8th seed was so terrible. And funny, the Bulls had a murderous schedule early on this year toO!
