Meehan on the Blazers/DD

Closer to home, the relentless work ethic of Trail Blazers center Dale Davis is one of the best reasons to watch the Blazers. On a team with more drama than MTV's "Real World," Davis' toughness and willingness to put the team first is an inspiration.
DD is the best thing he can come up with for watching the Blazers????

Now, I readily admit that I am a bit biased against DD, because I like the back-up center better, but is Davis' toughness and team-first mentality really that much more obvious than those same qualities in many of his teammates?

Even if Sabonis weren't playing, I could think of a lot of other things that would make me want to watch the Blazers.

I sometimes wonder if the Blazers management knows that DD is less popular than Sabonis and so they encourage writers to talk more about Davis. I don't know. I am just wondering....

Is Meehan watching the same team we are?

Dale Davis is the one who went on a little vacation 2 years ago during the season.

Dale Davis seems to put forth 75% effort half the time, and 40% the other half.

I am with_Meehan on this one. He doesn't say DD is the only reason to watch the Blazers he says he is one reason. And I agree with what he says. I don't think the 75/40 theory is accurate. Davis is on a very even emotional keel. The fact that he practices Yoga tells me quite a bit about him. He puts out incredible effort when it is time for him to. He doesn't make overly emotional faces but he is in there battling every night and I definitely find some inspiration watching him.

Meehan is a generally positive blue collar writer and I have liked a lot of his columns enough to have emailed him on a few occassions. I think he appreciates DDs positive blue collar style also.
