Re: Blazers going after Eddy Curry? (link here)
Curry has alot of potential their is no doubt...unfortunately though his weakness are ones which are of major concern IMO.
1. He is lazy and does not have a good work ethic. This might change under Nate but their is no guarantee of that.
2. He has a potential significant health problem. He is unwilling to undergo the necessary tests to prove it is not a problem.
If we could get him for cheap I would think about doing it. Unloading Theo's contract would be tempting but I am not sure how this would help because we would have to take on Curry's contract. If they packaged Curry with a expiring contract for Theo + filler then it might be more appealing for the Blazers IMO. It might help create some space to resign Joel.

Re: Blazers going after Eddy Curry? (link here)
If we could somehow combine Joel's best attributes with Curry's best attributes we'd have a perennial All-Star center for the next decade. Unfortunately, God hasn't blessed us with such a gift and we are stuck to decide between one (defense) or the other (offense) if indeed the "other" is being considered.
That being said, I'd much rather take a chance at retaining the defensive minded, hard working player in Joel Przybilla than take the risk of getting an overpriced, no defense fat man with a heart problem.
I know many people don't see it, but Przybilla is the superior player in my book.

Unfortunately, it doesn't.
In fact, trading for Curry might very well communicate to Joel that the Blazers don't need him and aren't expecting him to be a part of the future. It could literally ensure that Joel leaves next summer.

I'm with you, Storyteller. And, while it could be argued that Curry is a "better" player than Przybilla, given this team and its needs, I'd rather go down roads that lead towards keeping Joel around rather than the other way around. If he still leaves, at least we (however that's defined) tried. Heck, maybe it's worth consulting him on stuff like this? It might be that he's enough a team guy that he'd actually prefer to have someone like Curry around -- a rotation of Randolph, Curry, and Przybilla might be interesting and Ratliff (who won't play that many more years now, anyway) might make a good piece for a trade. And, he might appreciate being in on the decision-making -- even if it doesn't fall like he'd want it to, he might still be more inclined to stick around.

Re: Blazers going after Eddy Curry? (link here)
Did anyone see the article in the Sporting News 2 weeks ago on Curry? Of course we Blazer fans realize if anyone does that media disses are far from always accurate, but if the facts are as stated I am really soured on this guy. According to TSN, last year, a contract year, he showed up overweight and out of shape and as has been mentioned by others his work ethic was disappointing. Atlanta invited him for a 2 day visit. On the 2nd day, they had all kinds of activities planned and Curry was not there. He said he misunderstood and thought the visit was for only one day. TSN pointed out that a grown man negotiating for a 7 figure deal does not make those kinds of mistakes. But Atlanta was even more turned off by how grossly overweight he was. He's a soft rebounder for his size and not a particularly good shooter. That's not even counting the potential health problems.
As far as having no inside force aside from Zach, Przybilla was putting up double doubles the second half of the season. True, he's not going to give you 20 or 30 points a night, but neither is Curry. If Joel can continue to score 10-12 it's enough to keep defenses honest. Travis can play inside and I understand Jarrett Jack is a bit of a slasher. It's not going to be a situation of ZBo and 4 guys 20' from the basket.
I'm really really concerned about bad attitudes on a young team. Even a better player I'd be reluctant to sign with a bad attitude and work ethic and I'm really not convinced Curry is an above average player.

It may be copying and pasting, but it sure is nice to find all that information gathered in one place. I wouldn't give them credit for personally finding information but they get credit for putting it all on one report. I love it.

BTW, did you notice that Hoopshype quotes Eric from the O-Live blog and his "recap" of McMillan's interview yesterday? They put the source as "Oregonian", as if it was in the print edition....

HoopsHype is a pretty junk site IMO but I do like that they gather links to articles all in one place. I would never use them as a primary source of information though. Some of the links they provide are pretty questionable IMO.

Re: Blazers going after Eddy Curry? (link here)
I think Curry would be a great addition.
Remember, this is a 6'11 285lb 22 year old. He averaged more points than every center other than Shaq, Yao, Amare, Duncan and Big Z. He is 22. His rebounding sucks, but with Zach and Joel, it would not be such a huge deal. That is why I believe PDX would be a good fit for him. Also, he would be foreced to earn his PT here, I dont think Eddy could go into any situation other than here that would force him to work harder and in the end become the best player he could be. Remember, Nate is not going to hand anyone anything this year. Eddy would have to work hard, and probably would show his better side as a Blazer.
If we can send a package that doesnt include Zach, Bassy, Jack, Outlaw, Joel, Martell or our own 1st rounder this year, then I say get him.

And since Dixon, Smith and Blake can't be dealt that leaves:
Ratliff, Miles, Patterson, Khryapa, Monya and Ha.
What package of those six do you suggest would be not only appealing to the Bulls (remembering, of course, that the Bulls already have two young SF's under contract in Deng and Nocioni) but also would fit the salary restriction necessary to accomodate Curry's BYC status?

Ratliff, Monia and DET #1 pick or Ha if they would prefer instead of Monia....heck or both of them.
I'd rather not see POR deal Khryapa for Curry.

Which again makes my point - this trade works fine in a fantasy league, but cannot work in real life because of Curry's BYC status.
And also, someone will have to make a strong argument as to why the Bulls would be willing to use future cap space on Ratliff.
Portland getting Curry is, IMO, nothing more than a "nice idea". I just don't see it happening.
