Blazers going after Eddy Curry? (link here)
http://www.hoopshype.com/ hoopsworld is also reporting we are in the mix.
I would commend Nash if he could get this done. Although I know he cant but we can always wish. It appears teh Bulls want some young talent in return which we have a boat load of. I could see us sending Theo+ a few young guys for Curry and his new contract. It also will put less pressure on us to resign Joel. Curry, Zach, Miles isnt a bad front line. Although Zach=Curry are really very similar pudgy players lol.
I would love to get Curry.

Re: Blazers going after Eddy Curry? (link here)
It of course depends on what it takes to get him, but I'd be excited to get Curry without having to give up Telfair/Outlaw/Webster/Zach/our first in the next draft.
Chicago doesn't want to send him to another Eastern team, Portland has an extra first rounder in the upcoming draft, and Paul Allen is still the owner most able to take on a big uninsured contract, so I think this is a possibility.

Re: Blazers going after Eddy Curry? (link here)
I just don't like this trade. If they got Curry, the only one who rebounds worth a damn on the front line would be Zach, they lose shot blocking, and to top it off we may be getting a player who will be in the hospital with heart palpitations because he refuses to get the proper medical test needed to determine the true ailment he is suffering.
That alone tells me that Curry is hiding something.
The only thing Portland would gain at this point, is if they traded Joel, they would not lose him for nothing next season.
It probably comes down to Nate. Does Nate think Curry can be a player within his system? Beats me, but he doesn't remind me of a Nate type of player.

I actually agree with Mixum and Ed O. on their posts and no offense, but Mixum didn't deserve this reaction.
As long as we don't get rid of our core group of young guns, I think this trade would be good. If we could send Theo or Patterson and filler to the Bulls, I say make the trade.

Re: Blazers going after Eddy Curry? (link here)
Would Ha, Patterson, and a first rounder pick be to much to give up for Curry?

Re: Blazers going after Eddy Curry? (link here)
Utherimo should be spoken to about this personal attack against me for no reason. I simply stated info for all blazer fans that i thought they would find interesting but instead he has to attack me.
I then added my OPINION on how i felt Nash couldnt get a deal like this done and he attacks me for no reason. And to be quite honest, Curry would be an upgrade and thats the truth. I think trading for him makes ALOT of sense since we will lose Joel next season.
not right.

The problem is this little thing called BYC status....Your proposal doesn't work because of it and I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a deal acceptable to both teams - and to Curry - that would fit under salary cap rules.
Plus, Chicago wouldn't take Ratliff, IMO. Not when they're looking to make a splash in the FA market next summer.
BTW, as for your dig at Nash - if neither Memphis or Denver can pull off a trade for Curry (since they are listed in the same breath as Portland in the article), does that make Jerry West and Kiki Vandeweghe equally poor GM's in your mind?

Pulling off any trade whatsoever? West and Vandeweghe
Pulling off a good trade? Based on recent evidence, Nash and Vandeweghe.

Re: Blazers going after Eddy Curry? (link here)
We really don't have another inside force on the offensive end besides Zach. Getting Curry I think would be pretty good, he's still really young and could improve things like his defense and rebounding. I think acquiring him for say Theo and Monia would be really good. If this move helps us get into a better position to resign Joel than that is all good. I think having Joel start in the future and Curry coming off the bench would be a marvelous move. Having Zach and Eddy in the game is too much repition though. I'm sure the Bulls are asking for a package that involves Jack and or Ha, I would be pretty reluctant to give up either in the deal though.

Re: Blazers going after Eddy Curry? (link here)
I assume any trade for Curry means his new team cannot have his contract insured.
That puts Portland in the running IF Paul Allen will sign off on the risk.
Because of the BYC, it would look to have to be a 3 team trade.
If the Blazers could get Curry "cheap", then I would consider it. The Blazers risk a lot of money on his health. If he stays healthy, they have gained talent and a chip. If he flops they lose a lot of money and what (little) they gave to obtain him.
Curry is a Center. He can play (sort of). Center's are rare. Portland lacks talent. Portland shold look to add net talent anyway it can. Curry is something of a talent.
I would not give up a whole lot to get him.
I don't like Curry's game very much. All O and no D or rebounding. His weight and health problems concern me. His attitude concerns me. His poor fit with Zach concerns me.
The Blazers should be looking into the Curry situation only on the longshot that they can vulture a sweet deal. They should not peg Curry as a high value target where they are willing to pay a steep price (in contract and trade value).

Yes, Curry could certainly help on that front.

Could is the operative word. Unfortunately, he has shown more desire this summer (when he's working for a contract) to work than in any point over the last 4 years. That's a red flag in my book. Now maybe Nate and the staff could keep him motivated once he got a new contract. But maybe not.

But as I said earlier, Curry's BYC status makes that deal impossible.

It doesn't.

IMO, Curry's ego would probably not allow him to accept a backup role with a smile. Eddy, I believe, would whine and complain to no end.

Really? I'd give up Ha for Curry in a second. Jack - not as quickly but probably. The problem is that a straight trade for either simply doesn't work, and a package deal for Curry would have to involve other players who I was less likely to want to give up.
Curry is a great offensive player. But his attitude and health situation makes him a huge risk. He wants a big guaranteed payday, and IMO he isn't worth giving more than $15-20 million of guaranteed money to. Now, if he won't accept that from Chicago, there's nothing to make me believe that he'll take it from the Blazers or any other team.
