I voted 07-08, and I voted on when I will expect a playoff team (as opposed to when "we should").

This year is out, for a certainty. Next year will not be that much better, IMO. But the year after that the team will finally have some players in their prime and the "wait 'til next year" approach of franchise management will have worn thin enough that I will expect a playoff team.

I tdon't think we really will even be in the hunt this year (surprises happen, but very unlikely). I think Next year they could be in the 8th seed hunt, but likely fall short and finish about 10th. Season after that I think the will make the playoffs, but we may be surprised at how easily they make it. Many of the perenial Playoff teams will start slow down (Minnesota, Dallas) so we should see Portlands rise in about 2 years be a matter of the changing of the guard. That will also soincide with the timeline most HS players really come into their own for Telfair and Webster.

I voted for 2006-07. This year's team has a chance for .500 and the playoffs. There are several teams on a serious downswing: Minnesota, Seattle, Dallas, while the Blazers will compete well with the other young rising teams: GSW, Utah.

There are two WC teams that are nearly automatic L's on the schedule: SA and Phx. Everyone else in the West the Blazers can compete with. Denver and Portland should be pretty competitive this year due to our improvement at both guard spots (no more Damon on DeMarr Johnson).

Listen to the voices of optimism, youth brings with it the seeds of progress.
