OT: Allan Houston Rule TM rights
Allan Houston and the NBA are in court to fight over the marketing rights to this term.

NBA commissioner David Stern was not available for comment at this time, however, his assistant told me that while Mr. Stern is sympathetic to Mr. Houston’s complaints, he will not back down as the t-shirt sales are “far too vital” to the profitability of the NBA.

What? The sale of a few Allan Houston Rule shirts are vital to the profit of the NBA? Are things really that tight?

LOL this is great for a good Monday laugh..if this it true it's just simply ridiculous..like Houston hasn't already made enough free $$ and is due to make even more.

Yeah, I don't know which part is funnier in this case. A guy makes 20 million a year and is fighting over a few thousand dollars? My guess is that he is going to spend more on legal costs than he will ever make off the trademark. And the NBA, are they really planning on marketing an individual player's name, associated with this rule?
Other than a few NBA players, who really wants one of this shirts?
This is likely more about Allan Houston retaining the rights to his name--if he just let this go, he may put that in jeopardy. I think the NBA will lose on this one. What is Stern thinking?

Re: OT: Allan Houston Rule TM rights
Someone needs to call up DA and tell him to start assembling his legal team. If Houston wins this suit, Stern may come after DA's name next.

This cannot possibly be true. More subtle humor?

Good catch. I missed that one. That sad thing is the fact pattern is believable in today's world.
