In a round about way, here's a quote that I feel supports Terrible's argument regarding the general sentiment of mediocrity that surrounds the Blazers....this quote has been haunting me since I read it and I gotta get it off my chest!
"Every time we lose, man, it's like the end of the world. It just can't be that way," Stoudamire said. "Man, let's keep it in perspective. We've got Minnesota by two games in the loss column and we play them one more time. We've just got to worry about us and I think we'll still be fine. It's a little adjustment right now, but I think we'll get through it.
"We didn't want to be 0-2 on this trip going into Indiana, but we knew it was going to be a tough trip. We just need to quit putting so much pressure on ourselves and go out there and play. That's just me, though."
I know that's just one guy's opinion, and one guy that isn't liked very much, but that's the attitude I get from the Blazers. Those are not the words of someone that will be on an elite team, and my bet is the majority of the team shares Damon's stance.
Think mediocre, be mediocre.

Wank...I understand the point you are making.........
But I don't think these examples indicate a lack of character on Sabonis' part.
1. Staying with an alcoholic wife who has no doubt caused you an amount of public embarrassment is actually very admirable and shows a great deal of fidelity.
2. A factual statement made to the Lithuanian media and picked up by the American media is again not a reflection on Sabonis' moral make-up.
I guess these are the worst examples you could come up for Sabonis?

infact, the Blazers are the ONLY team to have won at least 37 games EVERY season since 1974-5.

I hear ya, Arizona. There's definitely something to what you say. That said, I'm inclined to agree with Damon, at least generally speaking -- no one's going to win all their games. There was a great commercial awhile back featuring Jordan talking about the number of potentially game winning shots he's missed, etc. His point in the commercial was something along the lines of how all that has gone into making him the player he is, or some feel-good sort of sentiment. I think it's healthy for both the fans and the players to keep some perspective -- it is, after all, a game. Still, this team seems to have a problem caring. The main issue many of us see is one of heart, drive, desire, and the like. Hence, lots of folks (myself very much included) are ready to see this team rebuilt in the coming off season.
Part of my point in all of this is to defend Damon. He's one of the guys who, while he'll make a bad pass, dribble too much, and the like, does seem to leave it on the court, much like Patterson. Sometimes he tries too hard, often he gets beat defensively (though more through lack of height than lack of effort) but I don't recall ever seeing him drifting the way some other more key figures will.
Just my (not particularly coherent) two cents.
Go Blazers!

No Hap what I'm saying is your the kind of guy to write smack and talk smack and finally you piss someone off and you get the response you really wanted from the beginning,"classic instigator" and then it wasn't that person you were talking about. How convenient for you! Takes care of you ever having to back your BS, cause it's always someone else, right?
As for everyone else on this board who has a problem with how I addressed Hap, please realize that this is not the first time Hap has ripped "someones" post! He does not do this for sake of quality counterpoints which he rarely presents, but rather to make digs for his own personal amusement. That's why I don't think he knows jack about hoops, heart or what it takes to be a great team.
As for the weight reference I apologize. I'm sure its not his fault.
