What's Up With Travis?? (UPDATED: SPURS GAME)
The boxscore from last night's game indicates that he played only one minute. ONE minute??!
Are you kidding me?! If you're gonna play only one minute, you may as well not even be playing - period. Seems pretty embarrasing to me. There was no garbage time in this game, so we can't attrubute it to that.
What's up. Is he in the doghouse? Did he get injured? Beyond that, I just can't seem to determine how/where he fits into Nate's system.

Re: What's Up With Travis??
This is a problem that will keep happening until we clear our SF glut. Just think even that one minute for Travis will most likely disappear when Miles will come back. We really need to clear some space and let these players develop or deal them elsewhere.

Re: What's Up With Travis??
I think it was more likely the fact that he came in the game, and then the Clippers went up by 5 points within a minute. That probably is more likely the issue.

Ouch, talk about a collar-yanker.
Hmmmm.....is Travis just not as good a previously advertised? Is he one of those guys that (as had been mentioned elsewhere) you just cut your losses with, because if the player's not gonna be successful enough for this team by now, he NEVER will be?

Re: What's Up With Travis??
I just have a hard time giving up on TO. He has shown some flashes that just make me pray for more. But I don't know if he will be able ot put his talents together. When you seperate out his game into tidbits, I have seen a beautiful shot at times, very good man on D at times, primo shotblocking at times, and an ability to jump out of the gym. However, I have never seen all of those things at the same time.
I do think Outlaw will improve greatly, however, I am beginning to think that he will not have a Breakout year ever. Instead, every year he improves a little until 8 years from now he is considered a very good player. Is he worth the wait? I just don't know.
What I am hoping for at the moment, is that Outlaw strings together 5 or 6 awsome games in a row, so that we can trade him for a solid, more tested player.

Re: What's Up With Travis??
ABM i thought the very same thing.
I said to my self one minute that doesn't give him time for anything on the floor much less let the player he came in for rest.
Outlaw seemed like a very good player last year and either he doesn't have alot of self esteem,or he says im not going into the game for any reasonable amount of time so why bother with putting me effort and all into it.
Those aren't very likely to be but its the only thing i can think of.
I think he is a player that has to have minutes to produce on the floor, last year he was getting alot of minutes if i remember right.Kryapha and Outlaw for sf should have equal time.Maybe Outlaw just isin't a player that fits into nate's plan?

Re: What's Up With Travis??
I think Travis is the one guy on the team who would really benefit from being sent down to the D league.
Edit: Of course, he can't be sent down, because he's not in his first or second year.

Conversely, I can understand the Players Association's reasons for limiting this option. I could see 3 years as being the final qualifying year, though.
TO's is simply a case of bad timing.

Re: What's Up With Travis??
I don't think Travis Outlaw will ever be a starter in this league, at best he will be a back-up. I went back and checked his HS stats and he only averaged 22 points a game, which leads me to believe he isn't aggressive enough. The only reason he was drafted in the first round was because of his athletic ability, can you say Harold Miner?

Nice post Barfo.Outlaw would benifit from it and it's to bad that he's in his 3rd year.I wonder if the league would change the rules.

Re: What's Up With Travis??
I emailed John Nash earlier today and i just got a response.
Thank you Erik. I appeciate your comments and support. We have considered sending players to the NBDL but for several reasons have not done so yet.
For one, we think that Monia and Ha might have cultural and language difficulties that don't exist here. In the case of Jack, he has been needed and when Telfair comes back we may get him some rest for his ankle which is still tender from the serious sprain sustained last Spring.
Again thanks for your thoughts and support.
Hey John,
hi john i was watching the games lately and was looking at some of the moves in the offseason and thought something.
u got Dixon, and Blake those are some pretty good steals if u consider the salary and what they produce on and off the court.
U also got Nate i was so excited about u getting him u not only robbed the sonics of their prized coach but u got a great coach that will help this team win.
I was thinking about some of the players couldn't u send Jack,Ha,Monia to nbdl i think that about greatly improve their game.I was watching film of the Blazers and i saw something in Outlaw. He needs to be agressive and get more minutes that's why he's not doing as good as last year.
Thanks John
Sincerely
Erik (Edited Last name)
