I want to state up front that I don't watch college B-ball and therefore have not watched him play at all. However, from what I have read I was under the impression he was an excellent shooter. I thought he relied a lot on his midrange game to score, is he really more of a slasher as you seem to be implying? Or by pure shooter do you simply mean 3-pointers? Honestly curious, not debating your statement.

Hey, I wish that fairy tale could come true too, but it won't...
Pattersen\Outlaw would be a good exchange for Milicic IMO...
Pattersen can help DET now and has 1yr left and Outlaw is a young developing talent to replace one they are sending away...If POR can do w\o the future 1st then great, but IMO if POR wants Darko they are going to have to make DET an offer they can't easily pass...I don't think they are looking to dump him in the least..
Miles is off the board b\c of injury IMO
I like Outlaw's athletic potential but I seriously doubt he will ever put it all together in the mental dept to be anything more than a sometimes exciting but nonetheless average player
You bag on Milicic but the guy is an athletic 7'0 w\ inside\outside game...He may never be what many experts thought he could become (All Star), but I'd trade a 6'9 average SF for a 7'0 average PF ANY DAY...and throw in Ruben to boot...
We will never know what Milicic CAN do until he is given minutes, and he won't be seeing that in DET anytime soon..Not with Sheed, Ben and McDyess there...
I hope POR is actively trying to pry Milicic away from DET...they SHOULD be trying IMO..
|
But then you added a 1st round pick. You are trading a player who is better then him and a young player who has shown more, and a pick. Thats crazy. If Outlaw is an average player Milicic is bad. Unless Portland can dump Ratliff and trade their other 1st round pick Darko is not worth the risk. I rather keep Outlaw. I rather Portland draft Bargnani and maybe trade their other pick and Patterson for the DARKO project. If Detroit wants more too bad.

Re: My E-Mail Exchange With Nash - Slice & Dice It..
yeah, I didn't notice the pick. maybe he meant a second rounder, which wouldn't really be a deal-breaker.
at this point, it seems to me Outlaw and Milicic each stand about as much chance as the other in having a great career. I like the idea of swapping them, if only to give both guys a fresh start, get us a backup power forward and clear out some logjam at SF.

He scores in all kinds of ways...mid range floater after beating his man off the dribble, three pointers, catch and shoot, hustle points by beating his man down the court, posting up, a little baby hook.....all kinds of different ways....He is an excellent shooter and thats what makes him as good as he is....The other poster was offbase and has probably never seen a game of his just yaps for the sake of it...

No, I wasn't just yapping. Don't get so defensive Mrs. Morrison.
Your son, Adam, is a fine player. A truly excellent college player. His midrange game is outstanding. He can drive and score as well as anyone in college basketball, Mrs. Morrison. He plays hard and with a rare passion for the game.
The fact of the matter is, he isn't a great three point shooter.
You and your husband gave him the genetics to be a wonderful basketball player. However, the gene for 'pure shooter' isn't there. That's no fault of yours. I've heard it skips a generation. I mean seriously...he's no JJ Redick. That's a pure 'shooter' Adam, your son, is a scorer - which I said in my original post. Even a proud mother such as yourself must be able to see that. For example - Freshman year, JJ shot 40% from three. Adam, 31%. For their career - JJ is a 40.4% shooter. Adam is a 33.5% shooter. I mean...Adam only takes a few per game. I don't see how you can say he's a great three point shooter. He simply isn't. But you and your husband and the entire Morrison family should be proud as hell of what he's done.
And yes Mrs. Morrison, I've watched probably 25-30 Gonzaga games over the last 2 years. Your son is many, many things...but you need to take off the blinders and see him for what he IS and not what you WISH he was.
PS - Please tell Adam to shave that idiotic moustache.
(If you're in fact NOT Adam's mom, I apologize. For some reason, I just assume it at this point.)

Skita didn't put up stats like Bargnani. Skita was a workout warrior. He looked great standing still. Bargnani is destroying Euroleague competition at the age of 20.

Kevin Pritchard has stated their top three prospects are: Aldridge, Bargnani and Gay, with Morrison a distant 4th.

I didn't say I thought he was the 2nd coming. But there's not enough evidence to say whether he'll be good, bad or indifferent yet.

Cute and clever.....
You fail to mention that he has improved on his percentage by nearly 10 percentage points in the past year and is getting better and better the more he works at it....typical of great players...they find a weakness in their game and they fix it....
and even if he isn't a great outside shooter in the pro's its not going to be that big of a deal....3's aren't everything....Michael Jordan shot 32% for his career for 3's...Magic Johnson shot 30% from behind the 3 line...Barkely shot 26%, Drexler 31%, Nique 31% and the list goes on and on....Players don't need to be great outside shooters to be great players in the league....

He's destroying the Euroleague?...He's averaging 8.7 points and not even 2.5 rebounds a game.... Stats in Euroleague, which is much tougher than the Italian league, which he was playing much better in.....

Do you have a link?....I'm not doubting you, I've just never heard that and I would be interested in reading it...

It was during a pre-game show before one of last week's games.

It seems like we're agreeing. Morrison is a wonderful scorer...but he's not a great shooter. No big deal. The post I was replying to suggested we needed a shooter in the draft. I think you'd admit that if that's what we need...they're are better options than Morrison. I'm not even saying Morrison isn't a very fine shooter...I think he may be. His percentage has gone way up this year. But...Bargnani is still better.

Well...the games where he's gotten very few minutes tend to bring the averages down. Also, he was injured earlier in the Euroleague season. He's healthy now and averaging 17 pts in 25 minutes in his last three games. That's an incredible stat. Maybe he keeps it up...maybe he doesn't. Maybe Morrison keeps shooting 40% from 3pt range...maybe he doesn't. They're both good players. Bargnani is a better shooter...that's all I've ever said.
