He had a bad experience while he was playing for Portland....and so did all the Blazer fans.

Re: Schrempf "disses" Portland
So Schrempf turned down an NBA coaching job because it happened to be in Portland? I guess he wouldn't accept a big jackpot in the lottery if he had to go to Boise to pick it up.

Re: Schrempf "disses" Portland
I don't necessariy blame Det for having ill feeilngs towards his time in Portland. IIRC, he felt that the team miss-used him, and that things weren't run in an honest fashion.
It might be a petty reason to not be n assistant here (afterall, anyone that was here who brought him here is gone) but whatever. It's a valid point.

Still owned by Paul Allen, and bottom line is an organization is (usually) a reflection of it's owner. I can't say I blame him if his experience was that bad, I'm sure he'll get another opportunity eventually.

Can't blame a guy for not wanting to again work for a organization that was totally mismanaged and poorly run when he last worked for it.

I don't think Ive ever hear a player complain about Paul Allen as the owner, although you are correct. He is, eventually, the one who calls the shots.
But like I said, I don't think there's really much to worry about Det's comments.

Re: Schrempf "disses" Portland
I think McMillan "dissed" Seattle when he went to Portland....that's a bigger deal than Det, an assistant, not wanting to leave Seattle because of previous bad experience south. Personally, I don't want any former Sonic players in the coaching staff....last time we had "Mr. Sonic" he leaves because of friction with the front office & a bigger paycheck in Portland. I would love to have a guy that has never played for the Sonics in the coaching staff, but that's just my opinion. Everytime the Supes give a former player a chance, he ends up leaving or getting canned.

Re: Schrempf "disses" Portland
Schrempf has loyalty to the Sonics. Nate McMillan does not. That is the reason why I would have liked Terry Porter as coach, I don't like "Mr. Sonic".

Re: Schrempf "disses" Portland
Why would Porter Coach in Detroit? They had their eyes set on Flip Saunders the whole time.

I would have liked Terry Porter as coach of the Blazers. He earned it based on what he did here as a player. Terry Porter is a better coach than McMillan.

Terry Porter was one of my all-time favorite Blazers, maybe that's why I'm biased towards him. I just don't think McMillan is a good coach. He had Ray Allen, Rashard Lewis and Jerome James up in Seattle.

Re: Schrempf "disses" Portland
I can't beleive you are putting Jerome James in this list of players that Nate had last year to help him win. Sure he played, but you can't put Jerome ****ing James in the same sentence as Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis and have me take you seriously.

James was a good inside presence for them last season. I also forgot to mention Antonio Daniels. Nate McMillan has a barely above .500 career record as coach and it will likely go under .500 when the season is over.

Re: Schrempf "disses" Portland
Jerome James was a goon. He had an occasional good game, such as vs. the spurs in the playoffs, but what James mainly did was foul the opponent.
Now, I like A. Daniels. However, just look at how he is struggling this season. Seriously, take a look at all the Sonics who left. All of them are struggling and looking really bad this season. Hmmmm, interesting that they would all play better and more efficiently under McMillan than they would elsewhere. Also interesting, look at the current Sonics team. They honestly didn't lose too much, J. James, and AD....and their record has dropped tremendously. Could that have anything to do with the coaching?
