Re: Darko Milicic

Detroit would not trade for Ruben: they're stacked at swingman with Carlos Delfino and Maurice Evans, both younger than Ruben and, while not the stopper he is, they have better offensive skills. Same reason I doubt they'd go for Outlaw. (Besides: they currently have amazing chemistry and they'd be very leery of bringing in a headcase like Ruben.)

If Detroit do unload Milicic, I'm sure it would be for a center. They've been pushed around by genuine centers, even when they're as limited as our own Przybilla (whom Bill Laimbeer gushed over in the second Por-Detroit game) and even Greg Ostertag (whom Laimbeer openly mocked, until he had a big hand in forcing overtime and winning it for Utah). I think, therefore, the only Blazers Dumars would be interested in would be young bigs like Prz and Ha, and possibly a reliable backup PG like Jack or Blake, because Arroyo is a bit too much flash and too little substance.

BUT: Darko is an out-and-out stiff, so it's just as well it isn't going to happen.

Thanks for the heads up. The insights of knowledgable Pistons fans is always welcome here.

Offering Sinanovic and a SF (Monia, Patterson, Outlaw) and their 1st pick back would be low risk for Portland. Would that entice Detroit?
Outlaw is a high risk trade for Nash because he may have a great upside. If Detroit wants a center and has the money to pay him Ratliff would be less of a risk.

It would appear that Detroit wants to clear cap space to resign Wallace. They can't do that with Theo.

Agreed on part of this. (Ruben=headcase. Don't mess with chemistry.) But Patterson is a MUCH better scorer that either Delfino or Evans.

Per 48 minutes:

Patterson: 24.2 pts
Delfino: 16.7 pts
Evans: 18.4 pts

So, I guess you mean they're better shooters. True...but doesn't Detroit have enough shooting as is? They have Sheed, Hamilton and Billups for outside shooting and almost nobody who's a real post threat.

If scoring is really what they want at that position and they want somebody with post up skills, Patterson is a great choice. Plus, Evans isn't exactly a swingman. I think he's a fairly pure SG. Delfino can play some SF, but neither can defend like Patterson.

Since Patterson isn't signed long term, I don't see why age really matters. Evans is only 3 years younger than Patterson, so he's not going to be developing in the future. Delfino just isn't that good.

I don't neccesarily want Darko either, but I could see a lot of reasons why Detroit would love to have Patterson.
