Darko Milicic
While I know that many of you have voiced your opinion on Darko Milicic and some of you have said that he is a bust, but hear me out on this.
Would you if you could trade for a Darko Milicic type player? The kid hasn't seen hardly any playing time playing behind Ben & Rasheed Wallace. Not to mention that they also have Dale Davis & Antonio McDyess in front of him too. Joe Dumars has considered moving Milicic & change for Kelvin Cato. I heard that on an NBA show tonight at halftime of the Spurs vs. Heat game. Got me thinking about if they were going to move him for Cato maybe Portland could offer something better......then I went to RealGM.com and got myself into all sorts of trouble. Here is what I came up with and you let me know if you think that it is a fair trade for both team.
Detroit Trades:
Darko Milicic
Dale Davis (one year)
Portland Trades:
Ruben Patterson
Travis Outlaw
Would you as a Blazer fan do such a trade? Darko Milicic has been labeled by many as a bust, but he really hasn't seen the floor in Detroit and might just be the next Jermaine O'Neal. Darko Milicic in my opinion would be worth lossing Travis Outlaw, but what about you?
Would a Patterson/Outlaw combo be viewed by Detroit as a greater catch than keeping the Milicic/Davis combo? Do you think that Detroit would do it? Would you do it if you were John Nash?
Tell me what you think.....

Re: Question for you guys & gals
I'd trade Charles Smith for him.

Re: Question for you guys & gals
But do you really think that Detroit would bite on Charles Smith? I was trying to make it more appealing to the Pistons with young raw talent. Are you saying that Outlaw is a greater talent than Darko Milicic? While Outlaw has some freaky athletic talent, I am not sure that his grasp of the game is all that great. I threw in Outlaw as our odd man out in the rotation.

No I'm saying that Ruben Patterson is better than Kelvin Cato
Dale Davis is giving Detroit a whole .1ppg and like .2 rpg.

Re: Question for you guys & gals
The big problem with the blazers is we don't have enough future prospects on the team. I think trading a producing vet like Ruben for future potential like Darko makes a lot of sense. Plus I like his name.

No way in L.A.
If Detroit was considering taking Cato for Darko and Filler, why would we have to give up Jack, Ruben and 2 draft picks?

Re: Question for you guys & gals
I am looking at it like this....
Detroit has a large amount of bigs on their team. The offer was for Darko & Carlos Arroyo for Kelvin Cato. Personally I don't see why in the hell they would trade a back court player for another big to sit between Dale Davis & Antonio McDyess.
I know that Ruben wants out of town and while he is a better player than Cato I still feel like Portland would have to make the offer worth Detroit's best interests to make it work.
While a deal of:
Ruben Patterson & Charles Smith would be better in Portland's interest would Detroit see it as something that would interest them more than say a Patterson & Outlaw deal?
Yeah sure it would be super cool if they said throw in the pick with Patterson and Smith and you got yourself a deal. But looking at it from Detroit's point of view would it really get you to do the deal?
My question is.........as a Blazer fan would you trade Ruben Patterson & Travis Outlaw for Darko & DD? Would it make the team better?

Re: Darko Milicic
It is highly unlikely that Detroit was entertaining taking Cato for Darko and Arroyo. All that does is provide capspace. If they wanted capsace, they would have traded Darko and Arroyo for Harrington. That is much more talented capspace.
Jack, Ruben, and the 30th pick in this draft isn't a lot to give up for a seven foot bigman with immense potential, who is sitting behind two all-star caliber starters on a championship contending team.
Sounds very familiar.

Re: Darko Milicic
I could see maybe Jack and Ruben but not Outlaw. I wonder if Darko has learned anything from Wallace and Wallace.

Re: Darko Milicic
Yes Howie I would and I have suggested just such a thing....
Now is Nash interested? That is the real question....
I sent him an email about such a proposal awhile back and he replied that he could not talk about players they may or may not be interested in...a comment which I find odd since he has replied to exactly that type of speculation before...Maybe there is some smoke there.....
You should send him an email Howie about the Cato speculation and if\not he has interest...see what he says.....
If that truly is the going rate for Darko and Nash doesn't aggressively pursue I would be dissapointed...not the 1st time that would have ocurred though....
