OT: Good lord, 10k people came out for the Lumberjacks game?
Good for them.
The Blazers would love to get that on some nights.

The Blazers aren't brand new. I'm sure that accounted for the high attendance total.

Well, obviously that's PART of it...but this is lacrosse. It's not even a sport.
Not to get all 'mixum' here, but the Winterhawks average close to 10,000 per game. And they're not exactly new either.

Is that "announced" or "actual attendance"? I wonder how many of those people were dressed as seats.
You know that whole "tell us how many people showed up" cry is insipid. No other team uses that, in any sport.

Hollywood is pushing it. They are trying to make lacrosse seem like a normal sport.

I went to check it out, and there really were 10,000 people there. Only the lower bowl was open but it was packed - I heard they had been shooting for 6-7000 but had huge walkup sales.

lacrosse is a sport an american sport that was played by the native americans of the eastern coast or the basis anyway much like "the ball game" became soccer.
I wish I could go to a game, for the people that think its not a sport why dont you try to play it? I had an army buddy from Maryland that used to play it and had some nasty scars and told he saw a guy get hit in the arm breaking it. Its just as rough as hockey and its fast paced.

It's definitely physical. I play for my high school. Last year a guy swung in a baseball-swing manner at another guys neck in the middle of the game. Other notable things I've witnessed in my short time playing...
-Concussions
-Broken bones
-The amount people get knocked around and the bruises from getting hit by the ball at 50-90 mph.
-The amount people slash me in the helmet.
-And of course, the nutshots if it's obvious someone isn't wearing a cup.
Definitely something give a change and check it out, especially for 10 bucks.

They gave tickets away free at a Blazer game I was at so that might account for so many people being there their first game. I gave mine away to a friend I knew would want to go. I'll have to check and see if they went.

They also did a bunch of radio advertising leading up, which I can't say I've heard much of from the Blazers lately.

Maybe not, but the players are fairly new to the game.
