Re: ot: Done deal, Artest to Kings for Peja
nbatv saying Artest put the breaks on the trade so it's not a done deal...
some funny coments on the fact that Artest says how much he loves to play the game and then saying he won't go to Sactown, "(paraphrasing as best i can)do you wanna play the game Ron? you didn't play last year, and haven't played much this year. it's starting to sound like you don't really want to play the game..."

ESPN is now reporting the same story...

Ron Artest's saga in Indiana continues on. The Pacers tried to trade Artest to the Kings for Peja Stojakovic, but ESPN's Jim Gray reports the deal is off because Artest would not go to Sacramento.

also Twardzick on nbatv right now...not that it matters.

Re: ot: Done deal, Artest to Kings for Peja
****ing Ron Artest. He's not only screwing himself over, he's almost messing with the P acer's organization, Peja's career, and now the K ing's organization.
Didn't the N.BA's players union go over stuff like this this summer after the VC/Mourning incidents last year where the players got way too much power dictating where they were traded to??

Re: ot: Done deal, Artest to Kings for Peja
I thought that the league put a stop to this kind of bull****. Am I wrong? Players can still refuse to not report to a team?
Whoops... sorry deanwoof, I just saw that you posted the same thing.
Anyway, Artest is a complete moron and should be banned from playing in the NBA.

It almost makes you feel sorry for the PPacers. Artest is screwing them all over again.

Stephen A. said that he talked to "sources close to Artest", and they said that if Artest was traded to the Bay Area, he would much prefer to play for the Warriors.

Well now, according to some, if you don't live in LA or San Diego, the only other place in California is the Bay Area.
I suppose that means Artest didn't major in Geography?

Re: ot: Done deal, Artest to Kings for Peja
So how do you suppose the conversation between Geoff Petrie and Peja is going to go in tomorrow's practice.
Petrie (looking down at the ground, kicking at an imaginary pebble): "So, uh, hey... Peja ... how's it hanging, uh, bro?"
Peja: "I just want to play basketball, man."
Petrie: "Yeah, so, uh, um... Yeah, I was gonna tell you, your beard is looking nice today."
Peja: "Later."
Petrie (to himself, under his breath): "God, so stupid. 'Your beard is looking nice today.' Man, I'm such a moron."

Hey, that's what he said. But, I assume he was refering to the area Gramps was refering to.

Re: ot: Done deal, Artest to Kings for Peja
Hmmm . . . 5 minutes to play in the 1st half in tonights game between Philly and Sac and Peja hasn't been in the game. What does that mean? If nothing else, maybe they felt bad and gave him the night off.

Or that he was left behind in Sactown because he was supposed to be traded...

Why is he on the active roster for tonight's game then? Don't they turn these in just before the game starts? If they knew he was back in Sac, why keep him active? Just curious.

He was told to stay behind at the hotel by Sac officials.

Re: ot: Done deal, Artest to Kings for Peja
Thank God, Artest didn't become a Trail Blazer.
He's an absolute idiot for demanding a trade, then saying the trade IND/SAC create and agree to "isn't in his best interest". How about fighting, mouthing off, and making records....arent' in your best interest!!
Fool.
BTW - I think the deal still goes down on Wednesday. Peja in last year of deal, not looking to re-sign with Sactown - Petrie has to get something for Peja. That team is starting to make the Blazers look like a stable team/management. Who'd a thunk it!!
