Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who read - and believe - Canazano. I tend to look at him as I do the National Enquirer - sometimes entertaining, even a bit sensational, but nothing to lose any sleep over.

Re: Canzano Remark: No Friggin' Way!
I kind of agree with Canza.... Ok, it's a little tough to admit.
I think it's safe to say we don't have any chance at the #8 spot. We are in dead last in the conf as of today, and the 3rd worst record in the league. We might as well chug along at the current pace and hope for an even better shot at the #1 pick. Sure, play Miles, but wait until he's completely healthy, then have him sit an extra few days just to make sure. I like Miles, but I also like seeing someone like Outlaw get minutes as well.
IMO, we should get the best pick possible. Then pick the best talent available, or try and trade it for an impact player.

Now if the rest of Portland would wake up, cancel their Oregonian subscription, just maybe Canzano would be sent packing!

Re: Canzano Remark: No Friggin' Way!
Got this from Canzano yesterday in response to sending him the information about the Tuckman Model for team development:
Quote:
I'm not so sure he's interested in being back. And my sense is, they're ok with letting Outlaw and Viktor have those valuable minutes. But you make some good points.

I'm going to see what evidence he can / is willing to offer up support his suspicion.

Re: Canzano Remark: No Friggin' Way!
IMO, the Blazers should definitely bring Darius back as soon as he's ready to play for all of the reasons PBF and others have mentioned. Canzano is right, to some degree, in that there should be a concern about getting PT for the young players. Rather than parking Darius for the rest of the year, however, the emphasis should be on moving guys who are definitely not a part of the team's future before the deadline to acquire a backup at the PF spot. The prime candidate is Ruben Patterson.

Re: Canzano Remark: No Friggin' Way!
I bet the only way Darius never plays another game for the Blazers (this year) is if he's traded.

Re: Canzano Remark: No Friggin' Way!
The rest of my e-mail exchange with Canzano this morning:
Me, in response to the response he gave me below:
Quote:
What have you observed that makes you think Miles might not want to come back?
The only reason I ask is that I’ve suspected for some time that Miles might not like all the competition he has at SF on this roster. He doesn’t seem to be the kind of guy who responds well to having to compete for “his” spot. Have you seen evidence of this?
|
Canzano:
Quote:
Well, I asked him.
And then I listened to him.
He's not in any hurry to come back, and I think that's ok.
|
Me:
Quote:
I see. Seems like a good approach. J
Do you get the sense that he would prefer to be traded?
|
Canzano:
Quote:
I get the sense that he isn't one of those guys who loves basketball.
I think he loves money, and fame, but not basketball.
Which begins to make sense of this for me... because it's why he's so erratic and inconsistent and makes everyone shake their heads. It's not that important to him to be the best player he can be.
He's like a terrifically talented writer who doesn't work at his craft. And doesn't lose sleep over his unfinished novel.

Didn’t we trade Rasheed a couple years ago?

Re: Canzano Remark: No Friggin' Way!
I don't think john's going out on a limb saying that Miles isn't a huge basketball nut (or whatever term he used).
In that aspect, I agree with him (infact, thats more like what I wish his articles were like).
