Perhaps Wheels and Rice were referring to this thread?

Re: I "Hope" To Interview Wheels..
1. Outside of anyone on the current roster, who are your five favorite Blazers since you've been with the team? And why?
2. Does Travis Outlaw play as tentatively in practice as he does in games? If not, do you think he'll realize his potential with more playing time or is he missing something else that prevents him from taking the next step?
3. Which current Blazer works the hardest on his game during practice, outside of practice, etc?
Thank you for your time and keep up the good work. I've come to enjoy your style and your new partner is growing on me too.

I don't see anything particularly negative in this thread towards either of them (or else I'm missing some veiled jabs).

Re: I "Hope" To Interview Wheels..
Looks like I'll be hooking-up with Wheels next Tuesday for lunch. His time will be limited as he has a committment in the early afternoon.
I'd still like to interview him, though. If anyone has some "fresh" questions, I'd be glad to ask him - along with the legitimate ones that have already been posted here.
Say!
If I purchased one of those digital recording devices, could I in some way save or upload the interview to the board - rather than have to write down and type this interview out?

Re: I "Hope" To Interview Wheels..
Here's a few:
1. Is it difficult to broadcast a game when the team is having their heads handed to them? You don't want to pretend all is well but you can't just keep saying "oh man they are getting killed". How do you be honest without sounding like a doomsayer?
2. You took over the job from Bill Schoneley who was a broadcasting legend. How tough was that? How do you deal with the inevitable Schonz comparisons?
3. Is Rice still filching bits of chocolate off my desserts? (no, skip that one!)
4. Describe differences working with different partners. You have worked with Mike Rice and now Antonio Harvey; do you need to adjust your broadcasting style to work with different partners?
5. Who is your favorite current Blazer to interview? Past Blazer? Non-player in the Blazers organization?

Only if I drive to meet him in a VW bug.
BTW, one of those was my first car, as well. A 1960 Green air-cooled VW bug with a 6-volt battery. I finally burned the puppy out (too many road trips to Timberline Lodge) after around 260,000 miles. Great little first car, though.
Heh, my next car was one of those stupid (1972) Chevy Vegas. Bad choice. However, replaced that with a brand new (1978) VW Rabbit. Good choice.

I'm hoping to get a VW Bug again, and do a total rebuild. Preferably an older one (pre 70). So...if anyone has one they want to get rid of for nuttin...I'm yer man!
My parents had a 76 Rabbit. I always loved that design. My grandparents, from 1976 till 3 years ago, have always had honda accords. Their first 3 were the hatch-back variety, which are still my favorite accords.
Something about that shape (rabbit, accord, bug) that appeals to me.

Re: I "Hope" To Interview Wheels..
1. What motivates you on a game-to-game basis? I imagine, like the players, it can be difficult to "get up" for games when you know there's a good chance the team will lose.
2. What's the strangest thing that's ever happened during a game you've broadcast?
3. If there was something you could impart to the fans about this team/organization that would make us optimistic about the future, what would it be?
4. Best game to call as a Blazer broadcaster? Game 6 of the 2000 Western Conference Finals? Perhaps Game 5 vs. Utah in the 2000 Western Conference Semi-Finals?
Thanks Wheels and ABM!

Re: I "Hope" To Interview Wheels..
OK, here's one.
The Sporting News recently reported that during his brief NBA career, Shawn Respert was suffering from stomach cancer and had, in fact, been given only a 50/50 chance of surviving. He did not make that public, and unfortunately was widely regarded as a bust, when in fact he was seriously ill.
If you were hearing the fans/media slam a player, and you knew something about the player that would mitigate that (i.e. a case like Shawn Respert) but the information was confidential, how do you balance the journalistic ethics of maintaining confidentiality with the humanitarian impulse to save a person's reputation?
(is that too confusing? I though of it because only a very few people knew Respert was so sick and had to be silent while everydamnbody ridiculed and denounced him.)

Re: I "Hope" To Interview Wheels..
How did you come up with BOOM-SHAKA-LAKA!!!? I remember it from the original NBA JAM for SNES, was it around before that? Do people on the street ask you to say it?
Antonio has an... interesting sense of humor. So does Mike Rice. You are the straight man, how is it different playing the straight man for Harvey vs Rice?
PS: pantyhose

Eddie Duecette?? Didn't he call radio games for two years while Schonz did TV? Then switched back after 2 years?
