Who's gonna get cut?
Assuming the Blazers don't make any moves between now and the trade deadline, who do you think the Blazers will cut to make room for the two first round draft picks we have (they'll have guaranteed contracts) this year?
Current Roster
C - Przybilla, Ratliff, Seung Jin
PF - Randolph
SF - Miles, Patterson, Outlaw, Khryapa, Monia
SG - Dixon, Webster, C. Smith
PG - Blake, Telfair, Jack
My guess is that they'll cut Charles Smith and the one small forward with the least potential. Right now, I think that's gotta be Sergei Monia. I hope they make a trade where they can pickup a decent backup PF while relieving the logjam at SF - they'll need to throw in the Detroit pick as well.
Honestly, I don't see this team giving up on Monia just yet (or any of the other youngsters for that matter). That means, however, that the team will have to make a deal before the deadline ... even if that means trading the Detroit pick for future considerations.
What do you all think?

They don't have to cut anybody. I don't believe Charles Smith is a multiyear deal, and Ruben Patterson will opt out.

Re: Who's gonna get cut?
Smith will be gone, but I would be willing to bet that Portland would either package their picks or make other trades, rather than taking 2 first rounders.
That, and there's a chance the Joel walks.

There's no guarantee the Ruben will opt out. Certainly nobody is going to pay him the kind of money he's making in Portland. So, assuming Ruben doesn't opt out and Joel re-signs, who's gonna go?

Yeah, Smith only has a 1 year deal. But I don't know about Ruben. He would be a ******* to not take the money he is making.

Re: Who's gonna get cut?
it has been stated by many people that nash will make a trade by the deadline or on draft day. i still believe that. If for some reason this doesnt happen i expect him to take a foreign prospect who will remain over seas with the detroit draft pick (mid/late 20's)

Re: Who's gonna get cut?
My position would be that Smith should go and we should do everything in our power to make Ruben want to opt out.

Re: Who's gonna get cut?
Ha (I think), Smith and Przybilla are three certain free agents. Blake has a team option, Patterson has a player option.

Re: Who's gonna get cut?
I don't think anyone will be "cut". Smith might not be re-signed next season. Ruben might opt-out, doubtful, but he might. Joel probably will take the money and run, might not, but probably. Athletes usually don't turn down more money from others.
It is my hope that the Trail Blazers look to consolidate the picks this summer for a better pick on draft day. Otherwise, I hope we pick for another team on draft day and include that player with a small forward or two for a top-eight player for us.
We must improve our top eight players!!

Ha has guranteed Money for next year. Considering Nate recently said that Ha was the Blazer he was most impressed with (development wise) I doubt Ha goes anywhere before the end of his deal.
Let's keep in mind the roster only needs to be at 15 or less by opening day next year.

Re: Who's gonna get cut?
Well the question is who besides Charles Smith would potentially be cut....
But I think that POR will have made a trade or two before that decision becomes necessary....

Re: Who's gonna get cut?
Charles Smith obviously.....but if Patterson won't walk and we manage to resign Joel....do we cut Blake? I doubt it.
Then we're left HAVING to do some sort of a trade.
