It's not necessary to turn this into another Nash-bashing thread (because I don't think that many people would still be willing to defend his weak-*** GMship with the Blazers beyond blaming Patterson/Allen for the horrible team we currently have)... but I see Ruben's success as another indictment of Nash more than I see it as a "he would be doing it here" situation.

Nah, I don't think its about defending him....I think its about how nauseating it is to read people bash him on a consistent basis when there is nothing we can really do about it....

Yes and when the playoffs come and the good defenses pack the lane because Denver lacks outside shooting, we will watch a first round exit out of Denver. We all knew RP would get his points, his hustle always did that. Skinner is more vailuable to Portland then Rp is to Denver, we needed another big body and he provides that.

Re: Oops!
I don't see what the big whoop is. Those are the same type of numbers Ruben put up here, and he can't hit a lick from the outside, so as per norm, all his shots are coming from the inside. This thread is a bunch of horse crap as far as I am concerned.

Re: Oops!
This is absurd. Patterson played on the Blazers for 5 years and 2 coaches. Now all of a sudden he is an "excellent shooting guard" based on what, 3 games?
This is just the same nonsense that everyone who plays on the Blazers suck, the coach sucks, the GM sucks, the owner sucks, the fan sucks, everyone whom they draft sucks, everyone for whom they trade sucks ... but the second someone leaves the team he becomes "excellent".
Now please, I know that we are all disappointed with the year the Blazers are having (well, most of us, some I think are happy to see them lose) but saying it's because no one recognized that Ruben Patterson was an "excellent shooting guard" REALLY strains credibility.

Re: Oops!
I've always liked Ruben's hustle, but I never thought someone conviced of a sex crime would fit in with a team trying to clean up its image.

So it's worth looking like you don't know what you're talking about, defending a guy who's built this team, just because you're sick of reading the obvious?
Hm. Interesting approach.

I'm pretty sure that the good defenses that the Nuggets face in the playoffs won't be packing the lane on them so much as focusing on slowing down Melo and Miller. Those two are the focus of their sets, which allows Rube (and Martin) to scrap off the ball for boards. His addition makes them a whole lot more athletic. I don't think his game hasn't changed one iota... Denver is simply a much better match for his talents then Portland was. Come the playoffs, whether they flame out in the first round or (my guess) advance deep won't change what I think of the trade from Portland's end. OK for the short term needs of the club, clears minutes for the remaining SFs (who I like), and an overall slight loss of talent.
Anyone know what Denver's record is in the games that Rube has played?

just looked it up... 3-2 ...though the first game he played (a loss) he came off the bench and only got 21 minutes. Since then he's started and averaged over 30 minutes.

Hmm, "Oops!" is a good title for this thread. I meant Andre Miller, obviously.
The comments still stand. Anybody who thinks Ruben Patterson is a shooting guard hasn't been paying attention to his bull-in-a-china-shop game for the past several years.

Re: Oops!
I really don't understand why this is such a big deal, he was averaging pretty much the same stats here so this should come to no surprise. This trade shouldn't even be criticized unless you mention Sergei Monia.

Good point. In addition, Ruben is scoring at a lower clip in Denver, than he did in Portland.
