Allen a no-show at Blazer games
Paul Allen obviously has lost his passion for the Trail Blazers. According to ESPN, not only is he talking about selling the team, he has stopped attending Blazer games.
Quote:
The team's woes aren't limited to their play on the court. Team owner Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft and owner of the Seattle Seahawks, maintains that the team is bleeding money and he can no longer absorb the losses.
Allen has appealed for a public-private partnership to keep the franchise viable.
"I've really enjoyed being the owner of the Trail Blazers. I've tried hard to bring the city a championship. Now we are in a tough rebuilding process with a broken financial model. We have asked for help in fixing it," Allen said in a statement posted Friday night on the Blazers' Web site. "If I have to sell the team or if it can't continue, that will be sad."
Since the NBA trade deadline, when Allen first came forward with his plea to city and state officials, the billionaire has not attended a game.

Re: Allen a no-show at Blazer games
I suspect it's not so much a lack of interest on his part as it is a desire to avoid questions from the Portland media.

Allen has rarely given interviews during his tenure as owner of the Blazers, so I assume he is used to saying "no" to reporters. I would also think that his love of his team would make him want to attend the games, just as Mark Cuban so faithfully attends Mavericks games.

Good. Pull the trigger and sell the team Paul. Don't let the door hit you on the way out of town.

Re: Allen a no-show at Blazer games
Woudn't you maybe not attend if you are trying to put pressure on others to get some financial help for your team, especaially if you are "threatening" to sell if they don't put up? He is pretending to show that he is not interested anymore, even if he actually is.
That is what is going n here IMO.

Re: Allen a no-show at Blazer games
maybe he's come to the same conclusion most of Portland has: the team just isn't much fun to watch.
last night, of course, was a pretty happy exception. that was the best game I've seen in ages.

Oregon Live is reporting that Paul was at the game in NJ last night.

Re: Allen a no-show at Blazer games
if you were him would you go? I'm sure he is just as sick of watching the losing as we are. I just hope everything gets straightened out and he gets a gm that has a true vision. not one that chages like the seasons.

He would be boo'd out of the building! I don't blame Paul for going over 2000 miles away to watch the Blazers.

True and I don't think he'd like some of the stuff the fans would say to him....From when I've seen him, he seems like a pretty fragile guy...
