1. how do you know what kind of basketball player Nash was in his 20's and 30's

2. Drexler being a good basketball player doesn't mean he knows how to do trades, etc.

3. Drexler has a horrible work ethic and is a dullard.

Isaiah Thomas was a pretty good basketball player too.

Re: Drexler wants a piece of the blazer pie

drexler wont be GM BUT OWNER part owner!

who would you rather have damon (jailblazer) or clyde (golden era)?

it would be ironic if Emmerit ended up owning the Blazers after all this I bet he cant wait to hear stern force allen to sell! lol karma!

maybe if allen sold the fire to emmerit he might not have to be looking to sell the team! I hope allen sells and stern forces him to sell to Emmerit!

If Drexler is part of the "board" but not the GM/Assistant GM (whoever that is, which at least I'd hope they'd keep on Pritchard) and TP is maybe the president (would he want to be?) I'd be happy.

can a part owner be an assistant coach (detlef)?

Re: Drexler wants a piece of the blazer pie

Hmmm, this is kinda interesting. As I spoke to Clyde at the Rockets game he mentioned to me something about wanting to be apart of the Blazers future. I've heard from a guy about 2 people in the Portland area that he has heard of contacting Paul Allen. One of them is Terry Emmert, and the other is someone else....someone who I think will actually do it.

Re: Drexler wants a piece of the blazer pie

Chris Mullin (Warriors) was also a pretty good basketball player and Kevin McHale (Twolves) was a great one. Not such great GMs. OTOH, Joe Dumars (Pistons) was good as a player and is good as a GM. I don't think Gregg Popovich (Spurs) was much of a player but he's a damn good coach & GM. In other words, being a good or great basketball player has nothing to do with being a good GM.

Re: Drexler wants a piece of the blazer pie

Hrm...after seeing Big Q's posting, etc. I'd be inclined to think it was Emmert.

Ron Tonkin I know is rich and a big fan of basketball, but don't know if he's that rich.

Do a little research on what Drexler has been up to since he retired, you might change your mind. I don't think you know much about him.

I was a HUGE drexler fan back in the day. I was at the parade in 1990 (Grand Floral, the Blazers were there). I cheered for Glyde at the MC, and I was at the RG when his number was retired (my season tickets were nosebleeds, but they were right under his banner). I have great memories of Clyde as a Blazer. But he is NOT the Blazers' front-office savior.

And yes, he has said that if he were part owner he wants to be a part of "day-to-day basketball operations."

That's awesome...

Maybe Terry can haul the Rose Garden to Hillsboro.

I'm not going to be goaded into ANOTHER Trader Bob thread, but even you have to know that this is just stupid. If money was all it took, then Isiah Thomas would be a great GM.
