Old Blazers vs. Bulls Game..

Remember that one Blazers game (I think it was during the 77/78 season) when the Blazers came back from something like 7 points in the last 19 seconds to win the game?

I remember I was watching the close-circuit telecast from the Paramount Theater (remember that??) and after the Blazers won, folks went streaming out onto the streets whooping it up. People were honking their horns up and down Broadway, the entire place was going wild! it was if the Blazers had won the Championship, or something!

Ahhhhh, Blazermania at its finest.

Re: Old Blazers vs. Bulls Game..

Game 6 of the 1992 NBA Finals. The Blazers led 79-64 entering the 4th quarter looking to force a seventh and deciding game. The Bulls began the 4th with Pippen and 4 reserves and they got back in the game, then Michael Jordan joined in for the stretch run, Bulls outscore Blazers 33-14 in the 4th to win it 97-93. Who knew that about 8 years later history would repeat itself. Blazers took a double digit lead into the 4th quarter against the Lakers and looked headed to the NBA Finals. Then the Blazers suddenly couldn't hit shots and once again Phil Jackson beat the Blazers.

Re: Old Blazers vs. Bulls Game..

On January 3rd, 1978, the Blazers staged a great comback in the Memorial Coliseum. They trailed Chicago by 4 points with 13 seconds left in the game. In those 13 seconds, Maurice Lucas scored and Lionel Hollins scored twice and the Blazers won the game, 92-90.

Keep in mind, this was before the 3 point line was around.

Don't worry; you'll be back on the bandwagon once they start winning again. Until then, this board would be better off without you.

What happens is the Blazers move? Will you still be a fan of the franchise if they moved to a city like Las Vegas? Unless somebody can convince Tom Potter the Blazers are more important than schools, then the Blazers are history here in Portland.

the blazers are far more important than schools. we should close them all down, and force the children to clean the rose garden and do the players laundry.

You're also the same guy that said Darius wouldn't be around after the trade deadline, so unless you know something we don't .... just keep your mouth shut and stop spouting these "facts" like they're set in stone.

Indeed. I still vividly recall playing the game and my college chum, as he was getting the ball stolen from him repeatedly, stamping his feet and screaming, "This controller... does not... work!" as the rest of us laughed our heads off.

I believe I remember the game you refer to ABM. It was during the playing days of Jerry Slone. Great game. They had it on NBA Classics not very long ago I think. The game I refer to was on TV, and I thought it was in Chicago, but I could be mistaken on that.

I do not remember the fine details, just that it was 6 or 7 points in 16 or 19 seconds. I believe Portland stole the inbound pass on at least one of those posessions.

Chicago's team seemed to fold after that loss and did not recover for a long time.

One of the most memorable games of the hundreds since for me.

Re: Old Blazers vs. Bulls Game..

The title of this thread reminded me of the video collage that ripct made several years back of a Bulls/Blazer game where Sabonis was on fire the entire game. The video had Led Zep's "D'yermak'er" for the background music. Very, very nice video!
