at one of the "live" courtsides last year, I had asked that question (and about honoring TP and Bobby gross) to Patterson. And if my memory serves me right he didn't say anything about Sabonis, but talked about TP instead.

That's the only thing though, if they start honoring old Blazers like sabas, there are plenty of others who should be honored too... but sabas is #1 YEGA!!!

they should retire TP's #, imho. And until we get ourselves some super stud, retire no more.
Honoring Sabonis, with a "retirement" party, should be something the team does for him. It's not necessarily retiring his #. We already have enough of those, and arguably (I begrudgingly admit) some that aren't warranted. They could just do a "ring of honor" sorta thing for him (and others) like the Suns do (iirc).

Like someone else said, that video almost brings tears to my eyes. Fans who haven't seen Sabonis, wont know by watching that video how much it was a privilege for him to be a Blazer and to watch him play. His basketball IQ was crazy. The guy was special.

Man... those refs were terrible. At one point the other team lost the ball, it went out of bounds, bounced off the wall, back in bounds, then the other team scored... At that point I think we gave up.

Hey.. don't blame us refs! Hahaha. But believe me, I know the refs suck. We get paid minimum wage and don't really get training. I've been doing it for 4 years, and I still blow calls. But I look at it this way: I'm getting paid to watch basketball. It's almost my dream!

I'm so glad Sabonis only played for the Blazers during his NBA career...I would have choked if he would of signed with the Lakers like the rumors were suggesting at the end of his career...

Re: SORTA OT(not in my heart/mind:) Great Sabonis Highlight film
I will never forget seeing the pre-injury Sabonis making David Robinson look like a JV player in the Olympics... seeing it again was incredible. Sabonis was one of the greatest centers to ever play the game. Even in the twilight of his career, in the NBA, I'd watch any game he was in. Great find!

When I think about Sabonis, the first thing that comes to mind if Rasheed Wallace trying the towel in his face because Sabonis accidently hit Wallace in the face I think.

When I think about Sabonis, and it isn't very often, I think about his knees. Or lack thereof.
