Re: interesting telfair quote~! rrrrrrrr!
As has been mentioned, to me it is utterly reasonable and expected for such a comment.
For the most part those of us here are die-hard Blazer fans. Suppose for a moment you were a young but decent basketball player likely to get better. You were a legend as you grew up in Oregon and were drafted to play in Toronto. Your team is bad, really bad with things looking like they will probably be that way for the next two or three years at least. You are on a road trip playing the Blazers and one of the reporters from the Tribune asks you if you'd like to play in Portland.
Answer 1: "Absolutely not. Although I grew up in Portland, love the area, that is where my family is and I'm a lifelong Blazer fan, I just can't picture myself being happy in Portland. I've been drafted by a team that is really bad, I sit on the bench more than I'd like, the coach wants me to change my playing style and at least one of our most talented players has a questionable work-ethic and desire to really put forth effort."
Answer 2: "Duh! I've been a Blazer fan ever since I could drool and the prospect of playing for Portland would be a dream come true. I don't care if they are not currently championship contenders, they are MY team."
Answer 3: "Yes, I occasionally think about playing in Portland and would welcome the opportunity to do so."
Most of us would probably lean toward answering with #2 but those with tact would probably revert to something more along the lines of 3.
I'm with Telfair on this one. In many respects he is "nothing" in Portland whereas in Brooklyn, he is "everything".

Telfair is acting immature with those comments. He should have never said it in the first place. He plays for the Blazers.

That's ridiculous.
He could have said an infinite number of things, you boil it down to three options, each of which is wrong in one or more ways.
Your first example is absurd, makes the answerer look like a smart-***. The 2nd answer would only be said by somebody as stupid as Ruben Patterson. The third is, basically, what he said.
How about : You know what, I'm a Portland Trailblazer. I'm working as hard as I can to improve my game and help this team win. I can't control the future so whatever happens, happens. But I'm a Trailblazer until they tell me I'm not, so I don't spend much time thinking about playing somewhere else.
Telfair is a guy with a wonderful, charismatic presence. He's a hard worker and a natural born leader. For him to fantasize, in public, about playing elsewhere is wrong. I don't care if he grew up as the Knicks ballboy, he shouldn't say in the press that he's 'thinking about [playing somewhere else.]' He needs to lead by example. He should grow some nuts and, through sheer force of will, make his team better. It's a ****ty situation that every player and fan is in. I don't think it's THAT big a deal, but it certainly doesn't HELP the team when a player says something like this in the press.

Re: interesting telfair quote~! rrrrrrrr!
How can you ever be disgusted with what someone else said? Look at what you've done the past two months. You've made ridiculous post after post talking about how you deserve respect, how you're a pistons fan, oh nevermind, how you're a blazer fan again. How you'll leave if less than fifty percent want you back, how you will ask to be banned.
How exactly are his comments uncalled for? The local media of Brooklyn (You know, the town he was born and raised in) asked him if he would ever want to play for the Nets. He said, if he had that opportunity, if it ended up like that, he would love to. What is he supposed to say, like others have asked? HELL NO SCREW MY HOMETOWN OH MY GOD BROOKLYN R THE SUCK LOLOLL.

He should have just said:
"I was raised in Brooklyn but right now I'm playing in Portland, and that's where my heart is at."

Perhaps he did, and they left that part out. Columnists do that, you know. They put in the best answer, at the best spot, and leave out the rest.

Re: interesting telfair quote~! rrrrrrrr!
can we stop making this out to be such a big deal?
why is this even an issue? it's such a non issue comment, that it's pretty pathetic that people are getting bent out of shape over it.

Ever listen to the radio, I think it's 20 or 30 seconds with a Blazer. They ask them a series of questions. The last question they ask is, who is your favorite NBA team, everybody including Telfair has said the Portland Trail Blazers.
