Has Miles lost his athletism?
Miles has always carried the "phenominal athlete" label, but watching him, you wouldn't know he's more athletic than Adam Morrison. He jogs around the court and does have much speed, quickness or elevation. His offensive game consists of jump shots.
Some players never get their athletsism back after an injury, and if Miles doesn't have it anymore, he's a waste of a player.

Re: Has Miles lost his athletism?
No, he's only in his early 20s. His prime will be in a couple of years, athletism wise. He is just going off an injury. With that being said, Miles has lost something though, it's his basketball IQ, I don't know what it is, but he seems to not play smart out on the court.

You don't juse lose that. And if you do, there's no question about it. It shows up not only in gameplay, but more noticeably your body.

Re: Has Miles lost his athletism?
IMO, Miles is what he is...This is his 6th year in the league and he hasn't shown any improvement...I don't think bringing up his age is very necessary...
Its time for a new SF in town, one who actually cares...

Re: Has Miles lost his athletism?
Miles himself has said in interviews that he doesn't jump as well as people think he does. He's just so long that he gets to the rim. I'm not sure how "athletic" Miles really is.

Isn't he just getting over knee surgery?

That can't be true. Otherwise, I don't think people would be constantly blasting him over the past month for not forcing his way into the lane, attacking the rim, being in top NBA shape, and playing like an All Star. Even if it were true, everyone knows it only takes about a week to regain full basketball mobility after knee surgery.

so what about before he had the surgery? or last season?
he's basically had 1 stretch of good games, and then been so-so since.

Re: Has Miles lost his athletism?
To tell the honest truth, I don't think he has recovered from his surgery completely yet, and isn't even close IMO.
Now that being said, and since most of Portlands small forwards really aren't worth the dog crap play they leave on the court, I am pretty much for keeping one of them as a backup and bringing in somebody new.

Re: Has Miles lost his athletism?
He had one stretch of good games, with our current coaches new system. I think it's significant and am not so eager to dump him just because he's struglling since coming back from his knee injury (which he came back early from because the team needed him I should note).
I'll still happily trade him if we get a better player out of the deal, but strongly oppose trading him just for the sake of getting rid of him.
Something to consider. Zach has just recently started to consistently play well. He's been recovering from knee surgery since before the season started (though it was a more serious surgery). If by next season he still hasn't recovered, then maybe I'll agree with this sentiment. Right now it's too soon.

You mean, when he was averaging 19 pts, 6 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks a game? Yeah, he sucked.

What? How do you know it only takes a week? I mean, he even says himself he is at 80%. Anyone forget how it affects you mentally? That's just stupid to think you can have a knee surgery, and a week later be healthy like you were before the injury.
And like Fork said, averaging 19 pts, 6 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks a game before the surgery, while scoring in double figures in ALL his games before the injury.
If people can't see his knee has affected him somewhat, maybe Jason Quick's brainwashing and bashing has effected you
