Thats pro sports for you. The best players make a lot of money playing games, and thats pretty unlikely to change. They beat the long odds to play at the highest level and collect our hoops junkie dollar.
Warts and all, I love following the league.

I agree with you...The problem is...Darius Miles is not one of the "best players" nor does he play like he is one or ever wants to be one.

Actually, the report was incorrect. It was a bruised "I", not a bruised "eye". Sometimes the spellings get lost in translation from audio to print.
|
Exactly.
Darius is all about "I." Hence the head taps after scoring, the pouting, the tantrums, the "just cut the check" mentality. The guy is a loser with a capital L.

He's our second-best player. He's our third-highest paid player. I don't know what your point is.

Thats more indicative of how bad our team is than anything else...

Re: D. Miles leaves last nights game early...?
I think some of the young guys showed last night if Miles isn't interested in playing, they are more then willing to take his minutes.

My point is Miles doesn't deserve and / or earn the money he is being paid as being suppsedly one of our top players etc or a tob NBA player in general.

Hrm. I don't think that he IS paid like a top NBA player. He's only the 89th (or so) most highly paid player in the NBA.
I can understand an argument that NBA players generally are overpaid, but Miles isn't remarkable in that respect.

Stomp said "the best players make money playing games" I was simply pointing out that I don't consider D. Miles to be in that group.

Re: D. Miles leaves last nights game early...?
Not to defend Miles, but he did take a pretty hard elbow to the eye from B.Simmons (I think).
When Miles was in there, everyone around me was yelling "do something Miles", "take Miles out Nate, he doesnt care!" etc. etc.

The last game I attended, I know he heard me say on more than one occasion, "C'mon, Miles, you're moving like pond water!"
One of my friends had a good one, that I'm also sure he could hear: "Hey, Miles, no wonder you don't have a shoe contract!"

He has a contract with Reebok I think...not a signature though...the ones he does wear are ugly as sin.

I agree.
The shoes he had on last night were very plain (white/grey), and looked like big moon boots on his skinny legs.
