I'm thinking we'll get the 2nd pick based on worst records....I think New York will win a couple games while, I don't think were going to win one from here on out....but then again there is still the lottery to decide who will get the picks...

I dooubt we'll lose out, but I doubt we win more than 2 maybe 3. Remember we just did beat Phoenix so anything is possible. I say we split with Seattle and pick up another at least 1 but I doubt more than 2.

Re: The Stretch to the Lottery

The only stretch here is the silly idea that there is anyone in this year's draft who will be a saviour to our team.

Our pick is valuable only if traded for a future pick or a proven, but young player.

But if the draft is as weak as you suggest then the same is true of other teams and the offering of their future pick for our current less valuable pick is highly unlikely.

Keep in mind that most drafts at this point in time show little promise.

I don't think that's true at all.

Last year Bogut was a clear #1 at this point (although I remember arguing with at least one person (and I do remember who he is ) that Williams and Gay would both go ahead of him if they came out), and a 7 foot top pick always makes for a good start to a draft. Chris Paul was considered by many, this time last year, to be the best PG prospect since Jason Kidd. Marvin Williams and Rudy Gay were both considered top prospects, too.

The previous year Okafor and Deng were at the top of the draft. The year before that was LeBron and Darko.

Certainly guys slipped from early projections, and a lot of guys emerged, but at this point I think it's a decidedly weaker crop than in the previous years. Both at the top of the draft and throughout.

So how does that affect teams willingness to deal for a top pick this year? Would a Team in the top 8 or so want to move up and give up their picks in thenext couple of years with guys like Oden and Mayo floating out there? I doubt it. So then would a team below #10 offer a future pick? Probably, but if they are below #10 this year chances are they will be in the future. A top 3 this year is much more likely to be a better player than say a #15 next year.

Re: The Stretch to the Lottery

No team, outside of Isiah Thomas and his deal with Chicago, is going to trade their pick next year and have it unprotected.

So lets get off that pipe dream.

If they do a trade for a pick next year, it won't be for the top pick so trading our pick this year won't be worth it. Trading a player on this years team for a pick next year won't be much better, because it still won't be for an unprotected pick.

The team needs players now, and shouldn't look to trade their pick unless they can't get who they want (be it one of the top 4 that we fans seem to think are the only 4 the team wants).

Re: The Stretch to the Lottery

yeah i agree if this draft is so weak why would anyone trade their next year's pick which is said to be "Strong" for a weak pick this year? that isnt sound logic
