Pryzbilla says he's not coming back unless....

some changes are made....

He says the guys don't even care that they are losing and that the team needs to make some changes...

Quote:
"When the season is over, it's going to be a big decision for me, and a lot is going to be determined by what team they bring back," Przybilla said.
Quote:
"The tough part for me is to see guys who don't want to come to practice, who don't want to play in games, that's my biggest thing. Personally, I have no problem playing because I want to play, no matter what. But to see other guys -- I don't know if it's giving up or what -- but we have to finish the season strong. It's our job, we have to be professional, and I don't know if everyone is doing that."
Quote:
"The other night, I could see he was bothered in the game by the play of some of the guys, and he bit his tongue," McMillan said. "And I told him 'Don't you bite your tongue, you say it.' You only got a few more games anyway, you say it. I don't give a (rip) if you (tick) someone off, you say it and get it off your chest. Because you are going to have to make a (free agent) decision, and if you don't say it now, you won't say it later. Say it. I don't care who it is, you say it."
Quote:
"Some of the things he has gone through in the last two years, and what he has seen -- not just from the players, but from upstairs -- he has observed all of that and he will have an opportunity to make a decision. All I can do is show him how I'm trying to get this thing going the way I want it to go."

Say it ain't so, Joel!

This is terrible information-- but it's not surprising.

However, this bodes awfully for the Blazers-- if we can't keep a stiff white guy with heart, how can we attract a high-flying all-star?

The pain continues...

Re: Pryzbilla says he's not coming back unless....

Yeah, this article is bad news all right....

Oh, you mean what is written about Joel? Of course that's bad news. It's got to be frustrating for a player that 'gets it' about working hard and being an example to see others not following suit. I would hate to see Joel leave.

But to put that aside for a second, it's bad news to see this:

Quote:
Guard Juan Dixon, whose 24-point game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday was one of the Blazers' few bright spots, said he also thinks some players don't care about the rest of the season.
Really...Dixon had 24 against the Clippers? Uh, Jason, were you even at the game that you supposedly covered?

The bad news is that the lead beat reporter for the Oregonian once again can't even get simple facts straight - this time about events that only took place a couple of days ago! It was the last game they played! And he has the nerve to criticize players for not doing their work? For not caring enough to give their all?

Bad news all around....

Re: Pryzbilla says he's not coming back unless....

get rid of dmiles, zach and theo.

I can guarantee those are the jokers he's probably referring too.

Zach with his "i dont give a **** because all i wanna do is talk to my friends at the game" B.S.

DM with his "my father and coach hates me, nobody understands!" whining emo crap

then

Theo with his "i dont wanna play with youngsters because he thinks he's too good" or something...

pure speculation, but, its how i perceive things as a fan.....

I know Blake, jack, bassy, Dixon, Webster, Tlaw, veektor, pryz and skinner are ALL down to play...

I blame guaranteed contracts.

Juan did score 24 on Sunday, so he wasn't just completely pulling it out of his arse. He (and the editor, seemingly) just had a bit of a brain fart as for which team it was against. It happens.

Dixon had 24 on Friday against the Spurs. He got the date wrong, he got the team wrong. Jason wrote articles about both the Friday game and the Sunday game, so I'm assuming he was in attendance at both of them.

This should be the easiest part of his job - getting facts right. But over the years, he time after time fails to do the homework necessary to get this done. This one is really inexcusable, though. I could almost understand if he mixed up 2 games that were played back in November. But we're talking about him not remembering what happened a couple of nights ago in the last game that the team has played!

It's honestly gotten to the point that, in my mind, I question nearly every thing that he says. If he has something in quotes from a source, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that the player, coach or whoever actually said it. But when Jason is simply throwing "facts" out there, I find myself having to go back and double-check to make sure that he has it right. I don't do this for anyone else - it's something unique to Jason's articles. Because he's lost my trust in his ability to cover a story and provide me with the facts about a situation. And since he can't get the facts right, I also mistrust his analysis.

That's bad news.

Very true. But he's citing a quote, a quote that doesn't leave a lot open to interpretation. That has to count for something.

Unless of course, he made the quote up. Which is highly unlikely.

I'm confused. Are you saying that Jason Quick, in his article today, quotes someone who says that Dixon had 24 on Sunday against the Clippers?

If that's what you're saying, then I think you need to go back and read the article again.

If that's not what you're saying, then I have no idea at all what you are saying.

Re: Pryzbilla says he's not coming back unless....

This was my #1 problem with going with the so call youth movement last year. It brings a losing environment, and like Nash said at the beginning of the year, not to expect much. Like he was accepting losing. Because I think he never should have went that way, should have went young but stayed competitive instead of just saying were going to have a losing season and fans need to be patient.

the Blazer franchise is to good to say let's have a couple losing season like Nash has done. It's like accepting losing, and the players have that feeling as well. And it's very hard to break that losing tradition. And everyone was using the Bulls as an example at what we can become, but it took Bulls what, 8 years to make the playoffs last year, and look at them this year. Barley hanging on to the 8th spot in a weak East.

Re: Pryzbilla says he's not coming back unless....

Joel has a right to be upset I suppose, but really he's nothing more than an average player. He should be happy to be in the possition he is after the start of his career. Zach seems to be playing better defense, as does Telfair. I think the play the article is referring to is when Dixon shot this really dumb jumper and no one had a chance to get back on defense. Joel was late getting to the offensive end because the shot was taken so soon. He was the only one back and had to commit a foul.

Culture of winning. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Wasn't that the idea?

Of course, building a "culture of winning" by getting rid of your good players and not replacing them with people that are capable of winning on a regular basis has always seemed like a piss-poor plan.
