I think the ideal situation for a team is to have 3 quality big men for the 96 minutes of PT at the PF and Center. It's best when at least one of those 3 guys can effectively guard both 4s and 5s. I'll be interested to see Noah's measurements at the pre-draft, but I think he may project to being able to be do that.

Re: Why the Blazers should draft big

I understand the need for a "big" to support Joel/Zach, but a top 5 pick should be used on a proven player and not simply potential. Consider if you will:

1st pick: Morrison/Roy
2nd pick: Nick Fazekas/Paul Millsap/Craig Smith
3rd pick: Ryan Hollins

With three picks to use, the Blazers can get a quality swingman who can score and add offense/defense with the other picks. Hollins is extremely athletic at the 5 spot and can be obtained with the 2nd rounder. Fazekas can score and board and could provide excellent offense at the backup 4 spot. Hollins defense and ability to run the floor could complement Zach very well.

If rebounding an toughness is what you want, Craig Smith or Paul Millsap could be the choice with Detroit's pick.

Nate wants a veteran SG and he may feel that Webster projects better at the 3. Roy would be a great addition at the 2, providing defense and scoring.

Re: Why the Blazers should draft big

I was quite impressed with the MVP from the McDonald's game, Durant.

25 pts, 10-17 fg, 2-6 3pt., 3-3 ft, 5 reb, 2 stls, 4 asts and 3 to (18 min.)

Impressive game. And he is 6'10", so will end up a PF once he gains some weight (maybe 200 pounds now). He cannot come out now of course, since he is a high schooler (though a year younger than most). But if he does well next year, he'll be in the 2007 draft. Sort of an Oden consolation prize.
