Re: The Perfect Trade!

Their is absolutley, positivley, completley no reason for Indiana to do any of these trades. I would love to get JO, but without giving up our pick we are simply not going to be able to pawn off our bad contracts and worse attitudes for O'Neal

...which is why THIS remains The Perfect Trade(TM) - don't be fooled by lesser imitations!

At least some of these other trades make the Blazers a better team.

But that isn't the goal - the goal is self immolation!

Once upon a time, the Cavs started making deals like this. The NBA "fired" the team owner and appointed a receiver to run the team until a new owner could be found. (sort of like MLB and the Expos)

IIRC, this was about 30 years ago.....and the league might not be able to get away with the same tactic today.......unless Allen quietly went along and didn't put up a fight.

Think of it: the team (as a corp entity) could file for bankruptcy without Allen taking any kind of hit. PAM doesn't want to play nice? Do they think they can outlast/outfight Stern? He will find ways to screw them that haven't been invented yet!

Of course, the on-court product will suffer......but who cares about that beyond a few hundred die-hard fans?

NY discards: Marbury, 2 Roses, Mo Taylor

Iverson, Webber, Miles and Kevin Ollie.

And it works!

Huh? Huh?
Philly won't do it. The transition from Iverson/Webber to Marbury/Randolph seems pointless. It's a trade for the sake of a trade.

This Trade Succeeded!
Indiana Pacers

Portland Trail Blazers

Incoming Players
Jermaine O'Neal
Salary: $16,440,000 Years Remaining: 3
PTS: 20.0 REB: 9.3 AST: 2.6 PER: 20.46

Fred Jones

PTS: 9.6 REB: 2.5 AST: 2.3 PER: 10.99

Outgoing Players: Zach Randolph, Darius Miles, Juan Dixon

Portland also sends lots of cash and a draft pick to the Pacers as incentive to do the deal. Deal has to happen after July 1.
Portland then drafts Adam Morrison in the draft
Resign Lenard as a cheap veteran to play backup SG

ROSTER
PG Telfair, Jack, Blake
SG Jones, Webster, Lenard
SF Morrison, Khryapa, Outlaw
PF O'Neal, Skinner, #30 pick
C Przybilla, Ratliff, Ha
Even if JO wanted to come to Portland, Indiana won't do it. It's a bad trade.
