How about a trade with Orlando?

No, no fantasies about Dwight Howard. How about something more reasonable.

Orlando is set at the PF position with Howard. They're okay at SG and PG.

Orlando needs a center. They have Darko and Tony Battie, but Darkoprobably isn't ready for big minutes yet. They could also use a SF with Grant Hill as their only starting quality SF, though his injury problems may have ended his career. So...how about, we trade them Theo Ratliff and Darius Miles (plus maybe the Detroit pick) for Grant Hill's $17 million contract.

We clear cap space after next season, we get the slim chance that Hill recovers his old form.

They get a starter at two positions.

Re: How about a trade with Orlando?

Orlando would probably go for that, but I don't think it's a great trade for Portland. In short, I think we can get more for Miles and Ratliff than a washed-up guy who will probably never regain his old form. The idea of cap space doesn't really thrill me either. I'd rather get a player or a draft pick.

Hedo Turkoglu is their starting SF, and he's been playing the best Bball of his career for them. They're set there. Plus Hill is old school and would want nothing to do with Miles.

Huh? Those two guys would be swapping teams under Fork's proposal.

Re: How about a trade with Orlando?

I think he means the coach. Brian Hill.

I'd be all for this trade, primarily because I think Grant Hill would be a tremendous veteran leadership presence, even if he is only a shell of his former self (which sadly, still might be the best playe ron our team if he comes over). I don't think Orlando does it though, as they recognize his value to that young team. Stranger things could happen though.

I would have to disagree, I have watched Darko several times over the last few weeks to see how he did after the trade, and he is doing well. I think he will slowly increase his minutes as next season progresses, and he will be a solid starter beside Howard, and the pair 7 footers will patrol the middle for a long time to come. When you have 2 guys that big in the middle, Orlando becomes a much better defensive team.

Re: How about a trade with Orlando?

Orlando has done what Portland wishes it could have done: fielded a young, competitive team with a couple potential studs and a buttload of upcoming cap space.

I don't think they'd be interested in Theo or Miles, let alone both of them.

We'd be more likely to get New York to bite on a similar trade with Jalen Rose.

Unfortuantely I think Ed is correct and I agree that I cannot fathom why ORL would have ANY legitimate interest in acquiring Zach

Re: How about a trade with Orlando?

i believe miles and randolph have both been branded problem guys. they both demanded trades, their value will be down. Personally I think the best thing you can do, is move out the attitudes and get players that want to win.

Knowing Isiah Thomas and the knicks to be fools, I recommend offering a big name like Randolph and or Miles, to get expiring deals and Channing Frye. Sweeten the talent pool enough and Thomas will take it, because hes a *******.

Besides this summer your going to be drafting LaMarcus Aldridge, Adam Morrison (thats who id take), or Rudy Gay. If you get the number one pick you could take Thomas, but I wouldnt.

Aldridge and Frye would be an interesting front court. Personally, if I was the blazers, Id try and get a 2nd first round pick. Especially if you are going to trade guys like Theo and Randolph. OBryant or the landlord Sheldon Williams would bring toughness. Williams is really a team guy. He'd be a rookie, but he's a good character guy. Positive attitude. I'm not a duke fan, but I think hes a good guy

Re: How about a trade with Orlando?

It wont happen. We are set to start Darko and Dwight together next year with Battie (who just resigned for 3 years) coming off the bench. That is set at the PF/C positions. What we do need is a shooter and I am sure that problem will be addressed during the draft. Sorry Blazers, but you're not going to pull a fast one on us.
