did that loss to Clips scare you?
I saw a really bad team, a team with no cohesivenss, with Sheed seemingly totally unwilling to play defense or play on the inside.
makes you wonder if the rift in the team is real. If so, this will be another 1st round exit.

Added Damon Stoudamire: "That was one of the best blocks I have ever seen, because it was a dunk, and he almost caught it with two hands. I have never seen a guy block shots like this. His athleticism is scary."

Yes, the loss left me very scared. And extremely disappointed.
And I don't buy the ole "The Blazers were tired, playing the second game of a back to back on the road."
This was the most important game of the season, IMO. And this was against a team that is not a playoff type team and was shorthanded.
We didn't bring it. I'm not saying we are going to lose to Dallas for sure, but this game did not give me hope.

be unafraid
Scared? Not a bit.
Frustrated-yes.
Glad we have Dallas rather than T-Wolves? I think so. Although, I do not like where it puts us for round 2. However, if we get passed round 1 with Dallas-I'll be feeling pretty good!
GO BLAZERS!
I think the round 1 schedule stinks though!

It's not new information. We lost, just like we did in the 31 losses before this one. If the 82 games have taught me anything, it's that we win some games and we lose some games. I've also learned that when things look bad, we usually beat on Dallas. I don't think LAST NIGHT was the most important game of the season. The season had fallen apart long ago when we gave up a legit shot to win the division and compete for the league's best record. At the All-Star break, we basically had the same record as San Antonio. That first game after the break was the most important game of the year. We lost it and we've been not much better than a .500 team since.
The most important thing that last night's loss reminds us is that it will be up and down in the playoffs. Very unpredictable. Just remember to not get too excited if we're up 3-0 vs Dallas. And don't get too down if we're down 0-3.
Go Blazers

The game gives me the heebie-jeebies (whatever those are....) because I think they intentionally lost in order to meet up with the Mavs. I do not like that thought of that.
When you take things into your own hands, you better not complain when it doesn't turn out how you planned.
I certainly hope the Blazers can beat the Mavs, but if they don't it will almost seem like justice is served. They will then be left wondering if they could have beat the Wolves.....esp when the the Lakers sweep them.
Second guessing......second guessing.....second guessing......
Bottom line......Always play to win. Let the matchups fall where they will.

I trell you all what, I missed seeing the game last night, but the loss does not surprise me. By the time Portland left the Locker room they knew the T Wolves would win. With a Minnesota win they knew thewould not face the Lakers. My guess is they were more focused on the playoffs and either Minnesota or Dallas is a decent matchup for them.
A last game of the season loss to the Clippers? My guess is a win in that situation weasn't a real high priority.

I'm starting to buy into Ed O's conspiracy theory posted in the other thread about the Blazers "intentionally" throwing this one.

Nothing against you Tommyboy, but the answer to your question is pretty self-evident, isn't it? Yes, it scared all of us who are Blazer fans, and no, it didn't scare any of us who have become accustomed to seeing games just like this one from the Blazers.
It comes down to this - the Blazers themselves are capable of beating every team in the league and of losing to every team in the league. The Blazers remind me of a statement by Joe Pesci's character in "JFK" - they are "a riddle mixed into an enigma wrapped up in a mystery" (or whatever the exact phrase is - you get my drift ). So, all of us who are Blazer fans have gotten used to unexpected wins and unexpected losses. It's all part of cheering for this team.
So, they get Dallas in the first round. Great. Now, we all know that they won't play 4 great games in a row - they're far too inconsistent for that. But they might play 2 great games in a row. Or they might go back and forth - great game one night, terrible game two nights later.
The only real question is - can they pull 4 great games out of their pocket in this series? Or maybe, can they even pull out 4 good games? Do they have enough consistency to do that? If they can, they have a chance to win this series. Personally, though (and I do NOT like being pessimistic at this point, but I have to be honest with myself ), I don't think they have it in them.
I'm still not ready to start talking about the draft or about potential trades. I'm keeping to my pledge not to post on any of those topics until the season is officially over for the Blazers. But, mentally I've begun to pack it in. I'm just tired of having expectations lead to disappointment. I'll watch every game that the Blazers play (at least those that are available to me to watch) against Dallas and I will cheer just as loudly as ever. But somehow, in the back of my mind, something tells me that they just can't do it.
