Rudy Gay
Best player in this draft. Able to play 3 positions in the NBA: SG/SF/PF. Good fundementals, shoots well, UNBELIEVABLE athlete, good defensively and can run the court as well as anyone in the NBA. Comes from an NBA player factory: UConn. When was the last time a UConn lottery pick flopped? Never. Ray Allen, Richard Hamilton, Cliff Robinson, Ben Gordon, Charlie Villanueva etc etc... His supposed attitude problems are complete fiction. Best player in this draft: Rudy Gay. Book it.

cliff wasn't a lotto pick.
I'm not sure if we should pick a player because other players from his college haven't been 'flops'.
I'd say that Donyell Marshall was a bit of a flop, per-say, esp considering his college stats.
Butler hasn't been all that great.
but like I said, how other former uconn players do has 0 to do with how gay will do.

You would consider Caron Butler and Donyell Marshall flops? They have both been very good NBA players. When I brought up Cliffy it was just an example of all of the great players coming out of UConn.

I consider them flops if you want to act like because they're decent players they'll have any part of how good of a player gay is.
you could bring up the bad players too. They have about as much to do with whether or not he'll be any good or not. Nothing.

a career 12 and 7 guy for the 4th pick is not someone I'd be shooting for with the top 4 picks. butlers #'s aren't bad for the 10th pick, but not what I'd wnt out of the 1-4 picks.
and regardless, how they did have nothing to do with how gay will do...and if the team picks him using that as a reason, they're begging for a screw up.
don't make me list the criteria for how we post, Odom!

Well, keep coming back! We've got every opinion you need, and several you don't, all at steep steep discounts from list price. And if the Blazers do draft Gay, you can bet we'll all be Gay fans. Unless he isn't perfect in every way.

Re: Rudy Gay
marshall is a flop for the #4 pick.
butler is still young and he really did well as the 3rd option in Washington this year so the jury is still out.
Otherwise, I do agree that Gay is the best player in the draft.

Anything to prove this? I havent read anything saying that Gay has any attitude or work ethic issues.
In the next year or two, when Butler is putting up R.Jefferson type #'s, nobody will be calling him a flop. Jay Williams, N.Tskitishvili, and D.Wagner where all drafted ahead of Butler in 2002, who are all much worse than he is right now... and its debatable if D.Gooden, M.Dunleavy, Nene, and C.Wilcox are better than he is, they where also drafted higher. Yao, Amare, and T.Prince are the only players who are significantly better than Butler who got drafted in the 2002 first round.
Looking at the 1994 draft, there are only 5-6 first round players who have had better careers than Marshall.
