Re: Who Would You Draft(Today)?

If I were GM, I would definitely take LaMarcus Aldridge.

Face it, right now our 'bigs' suck. We have Joel Pryzbilla who, while an excellent shotblocker, is a poor rebounder, is foul prone, and is injury prone. Also, if it's not via a pick-and-roll, he isn't going to contribute offensively.

Next we have Theo Ratliff (formerly the Rattler). I say formerly because he only played like 'the Rattler' for about two months two seasons ago. No surprise, it was a contract year for him. Like Pryzbilla, about all Theo can do is block shots.

Last, but not least ... actually maybe it is least, we have Zach Randolph. I haven't seen a player change his game more in his first 3 years in the league ever. Zach has gone from being a hustling, under the basket, rebounding machine to being a 6-9 version of Damon Stoudamire. I mean this guy just does not get the concept of team basketball. He jacks up more shots from beyond 18 feet than he does from within 18 feet of the hoop. Not a good sign ... especially given that he's our only true post player.

So, back to who I would draft ... LaMarcus Aldridge. All indications point to Aldridge being a good team guy and a guy who wants to be a leader. Don't let his stats fool you. He played on a team on which the guards rarely fed him the ball in the post. IMHO, LA would be a great addition to our young squad. I'll actually be disappointed if we don't get him, because I have a feeling he's going to be a start down the road.

Hell I don't know. But it better be another project SF that never amounts into a hill of beans, or I just won't feel right as a Blazer fan.

I'd love to trade the pick for a #1 in next year's draft. Who knows if it's possible though.

Re: Who Would You Draft(Today)?

Yesterday I'd say Bargnani but today Morrison. I just think he is more complete and more versatile on offense.

Really? When did he "lead" his team?

Quote:
He played on a team on which the guards rarely fed him the ball in the post.
Really? Is this why:

He scored only 5pts in a loss vs LSU's Thomas and Davis on 2-14 shooting?
He scored 4pts vs Kansas in a loss and took only 5 shots?
He scored 5pts in a loss vs Texas A&M and took only 5 shots?
He scored 9pts in a loss vs Oklahoma State and took only 7 shots?
He took only 5 shots in a loss to Tennesse?

You apparently see this trend (or maybe you didn't) and blame the guards....I see it and blame Aldridge...the team's BEST player (BY FAR) and a candidate for the #1 pick and ask myself...Where was his leadership? Where was he when his team needed him most? As the best player on his team, why wasn't he DEMANDING the ball more than 5 times?

Sorry..but I couldn't disagree more....being a team player is one thing...rolling over to the wants of inferior teamates is quite another.....

Again.....Where is his leadership?

Aldridge SHOULD be a decent pro...but expecting any greatness out of him would be a foolish mistake IMO...I doubt he suddenly develops a "passion" for the game...Isn't that afterall, what we criticize Darius Miles about?

Aldridge IS the 2006 version of Joe Smith...Solid...and completely unspectacular....

POR can do better....

Re: Who Would You Draft(Today)?

5/18 - Trade the pick, if we could for something of value.

The problem is I just don't see any of these guys being able to really put us over the hump. Bargani might be the closest of the bunch. Of course, that invariably ends up to be false after everyone is evaluated in five years.
