That's true.... when it's Hap, Howie, or ABM (and often enough it is ) there doesn't seem to be an issue. I wonder what the difference could be...

I think a rule against opening new threads is a terrible idea. While many of Speed's threads from tonight are redundant and almost useless, there's an easy answer: don't post in them. The ones that no one cares about will sink to the bottom.
Putting in some arbitrary limit on the number of threads in an hour, day or whatever will do nothing except stifle people's willingness to contribute to the board, IMO.

I understand your point Ed, and agree with you to some extent.
But I just got home from the game here about 9:30 tonight and I find that Speed has 20 (Twenty!!) threads that he has started.
That is freakin' ridiculous. Okay, don't limit the number of threads you can open. But one of the mods here needs to step up and handle the "Speed Situation", pronto.
It's utterly ridiculous that someone wants that much attention, IMO.

that's why we have mods. Can't mods eliminate these threads, or consolidate them into one?

One thing that moderators can do is merge threads together. So for example, one of Speeds threads (along with the posts that are in it) could be moved into the game thread. It's really a useful tool that moderators can use to combine threads that have the same topic.

Mod problem
Ive noticed that our mod situation is a little fishy. I don't have any complaints, I just noticed it now. With Speeds over zealous posting (not that it bothered me), I got thinking.
1. Schilly can't access the web during the weekend.
2. ABM and GymRat are on the east coast, (as is Speed tho) so late night modding is more of a problem.
3. Has anyone seen RG lately? Or have i just gone blind?
4. I think it might be good to have someone as a mod who's a 'west coaster' who wastes their nights online.
5. I think it should be someone who's not me. (You know, conflicting interests in a way)

Hey, it looks like the Iraqi Information Minister has addressed this topic in a speech:

As for your other lame comments. Am I supposed to blindly support the lazy play of all of the alleged 'stars' and 'leaders' on this team? I understand that that is what you like to do. Your posts tend toward the "Blazers are the greatest team ever and they have no flaws and anybody who tries to point out any shortcomings is a hater and worthless and not a fan!" That's not interesting to me. I am mature enough to root for the team without trashing anyone who disagrees with me.

I completly agree. All these stupid threads are getting annoying.

Looked to me like Damon, Sheed, Ruben and Davis cared quite a bit tonight.

Sheed should take lessons from Zach and bring the same kind of energy, desire and hustle. If Sheed played as hard and with the desire of Zach, he'd be a legitimate All Star every season.

I don't think you're gonna get many disagreements here. He's never been one to work out at all in the off season and rumor has it he always does the bare minimum (the team sets minimums for things) amount of weight training and conditioning.

Instead, he's a lazy idiot who floats and shoots three pointers when he shouldn't.

He doesn't float to the parimeter. It's part of the game plan. He's got a very nice outside shot. It's yet another offensive weapon for the team to use. I thought he did a fine job of mixing up his inside and outside game tonight. He was 8 of 14 and 3 of 5 from outside the arc.
Now on the topic at hand: I have neither the time nor the motivation to make sure that something hasn't been talked about before so that the likes of you don't have to deal with the minor annoyance of scrolling past my post or not looking at my new thread. If I feel that something hasn't been covered yet I will start a thread about it. If I have a reaction to someone else's post I am going to respond to their post.

I'll throw in my .00002 here. I agree with Ed. I absolutely hate the idea of limiting people's ability to meaningfully contribute. I also hate the idea of limiting talk about a particular game to one thread. I've found when we do that we've got 50 different conversations happening within the same thread, thereby making it nearly impossible to follow.
IMO, game threads should be for general feedback about the game but if someone wants to start a new, meaningful thread about a particular aspect of the game (ie sheed's postgame interview) it should be allowed and encouraged.

Speed you also said the Lakers wouldn't make the playoffs and not only did they leap frog the Blazers to get there, they are tied with the Wolves in the first round.
Know the difference between luck and skill, Speed!

All these threads by speed are getting extreamly annoying I must say...
99% of his threads are completly pointless and a waste of time.
He's hardly talking about basketball, he's mostly Slamming those that don't agree with him.
I support the idea of maybe making a limit on the number of threads you can start in one day. Maybe make it 15 per day per forum... So, for example, you get 15 on the Blazer board, 15 on the Cavs forum, etc...
If not that, just delete all these posts by speed. Only you can prevent trolling.
