"A wild card name to buy the Portland Trail Blazers is David Checketts, according to BenMaller.com's very informative Blazer mole. Checketts would probably want to move the Blazers to St. Louis. In September of last year, Checketts signed an agreement to purchase the St. Louis Blues." -- BenMaller.com
C'mon, how is St Louis a better market than Portland? The market isn't much bigger and already has the Cardinals, Blues, Rams scrapping over sports dollars. I get so disheartened when I read this stuff.
wait, so they're going to play in vancouver AND st louis?

I don't know what they have to say, it makes no difference anyway, whatever it is, I'm against it!
No matter what it is or who commenced it, I'm against it!
Your proposition may be good, but let's have one thing understood, whatever it is, I'm against it! And even when you've changed it or condensed it, I'm against it!

The St. Louis market is huge for sports, and when I say huge, I mean HUUUUGE. What else do they have other than.... Well, nothing?
I wouldn't condone the move, but it does make sense from a financial standpoint. But, when you factor in how closely vested the people of Portland are to their Blazers, then you can completely throw that notion out the window. In the long run, the Blazers will make more money in Portland than they will anywhere else.
Oh, I also heard that a thousand other people are interested in buying the team, and they all want to move them to different small market cities....
We could always get the city to pass a law making moving the Blazers illegal. Then if somebody tries to move them we just throw them in the pokey until they give up. We could call it Portlanduanamo, have it patrolled by Qyntel Woods fighting dogs, and not allow access to a lawyer, and of course any trials will be taken care of by a tribuneral of 3 Trailblazer fans.
Yes, St Louis is a sports town. That said, it is a market that is not much bigger in CMSA than Portland. The economic and population gorwth in St Louis is pretty stagnant. There are only so many dollars to spread around.
I don't see the value in moving this franchise. It is a fixable situation here.
On a side note, I don't really beleive that the Balzers are going to lose $100 million in 3 seasons.

That is why I stated that in "the long run" Portland will end up making a ton more cash than if they moved to St. Louis. Sure, the first couple years in St. Louis, they would be swimming in money. But after a while, once the luster of having an NBA franchise wore off, the fans would return to their Cardinals and Rams, leaving the Blazers behind to lose more money than if they had stayed in Portland.
If you're looking to make a quick buck, then you would move the team to St. Louis, and sell it within 10 years. Keeping it any longer in a place like Missouri is basketball suicide.

I don't have a problem with that.

Not that I want the Blazers to move, but I grew up in Missouri (I'm a huge Cardinals and Rams fan)and St. Louis is just a great sports city. The people there are very supportive of their teams and come out in droves to support them.
If the Blazers had to move, St. Louis would be a fantastic destination and the team would survive there.
