Do people realize how well Martell did at the end of last season?
There are a lot of people out there (including me) that think Martell will be a complete stud in this league, but I happened upon stats that broke his performance down month by month, and I have to say, I was surprised and impressed. For a while I'd been feeling like my defending of him was just hopes, and based on a couple good games, but he put together a very strong closing month. In April he
played in 10 games
played 28 minutes per game
shot a very respectable 46% from the field
shot a respectable 32% from 3pt range
shot 91% from the FT line
averaged 4 boards a game
averaged 1.1 steals per game
and only had .9 turnovers per game.
oh yeah, and he averaged 13.7 points per game as well.
All this from a guy out of high school. Granted his defense needs work, but I think this points to why he should get the starting spot at SG for sure next year. Anyway I just felt like with all the draft talk, it's nice to take a look at some of the young pieces that we already have.

I think the Blazers would benefit tremendously if they drafted Morrison (for example) and let he and Webster have green lights. Run the offense through Bassy and those two. Webster and Morrison would both average in the mid teens and Bassy as well. That's most likely 45 to 50 points from 3 players. Scoring should be higher this season.....Despite Nate

i agree, because Martell already stays around one side of the perimeter, Morrison can operate the other side, then Bassy can drive and dish out. I also think if Jack is running the point, then Morrison can post up if he like and create. Morrison is the perfect fit.

He sucks....
Especially at SG...We need to draft Roy and move Webster to SF....
....I agree with you..>Webster played well towards the end of the season at SG...I don't see any need for POR to waste the #4 pick on ANOTHER SG....
sheer lunacy...

Re: Do people realize how well Martell did at the end of last season?
I do like the idea of Sebastian running the point and Webster and Morrison shooting threes, but Sebastian won't be able kick it out without a solid threat to finish underneath.
So if Webster is at SG and Ammo at SF, who finishes down below?
Joel? Not realistically. He's a shot blocker and a rebounder and while he has his nights of good offensive production, I don't consider him close to be a force below.
Zach? Seems to be playing further and further from the basket.
Miles? Many think he won't even be a Blazer next year
Outlaw? Would have to be playing the 4 in this scenario.

I think Martell will eventually be a better NBA player than Steve Smith, and Smitty was a pretty darn good one.

tongue n' cheek
Martell DID play very well, and HAS shown a lot of promise...that is why drfating Roy to compete with him or moving Webster to SF is asinine IMO....

Is it any more 'asinine' than it would have been to draft Chris Paul last year?
After all, Telfair played great down the stretch the season before. Then again, Chris Paul is already better than Telfair. And Telfair didn't have another position he could play, unlike Webster. So really, it's much MORE asinine if we had drafted Chris Paul over Telfair...and it still would have been the right move.

chris paul is "already" better than telfair...despite the fact that per 48's, their #'s aren't significantly different....and thats with telfair not getting consistent minutes or shots or a real set "role".
