I tuned end at teh end of the 1st hour , I heard teh Joel interview at the beggining of teh 2nd hour . good interview with Nate calling back talking to Joel all begging him to stay .

Only caught the interview with Joel and the last segment comparing mock drafts. The interview with Nate and Joel was amusing.

Joels' coming back in a couple weeks to pack up his stuff. But he says it's only because his rent is up and he's keeping his stuff in storage here in Portland. For the time being.

He didn't sound optimistic or pessimistic about his time in Portland ... very non-committal, but the entire segment was more like the broadcasters and McMillan begging him to stay. Pretty funny stuff.

After listening to Joel's interview I've concluded two things:

1) The Blazers will give Joel the full MLE for six years without thinking twice about it.
2) #1 doesn't matter because Joel doesn't want to be back, and will sign somewhere else.

I listened to most of the broadcase and all the parts with Joel on it. He's "nervous" his words, about being unsettled and looking forward to knowing where he will be next season but he also said some pretty stuff about Portland reiterating that "it's nice to be wanted but I remember two seasons ago when Portland was the only team to give me a chance". He also stated that his wife really likes it here.

I would say we've still got a 50/50 shot but that Joel would still like to be in Portland if the numbers aren't too horribly different than what he would receive elsewhere. Joel strikes me as the type of guy who would not enjoy having a contract that was so high that the fans would be talking about him being overpaid all the time. If Portland can keep the numbers close we'll have a good shot.

Let's all hope so.

If Portland had no chance, I don't think Joel would have agreed to come on Courtside.

I didn't get the impression at all that he was signing elsewhere. Then again, I didn't get the impression he was deeply rooted here, either.

Wow... didn't Joel get paid like $2M last season. And coming back to pack his stuff up and move it into storage because of rent?

Can he make it any more obvious?

All that is obvious to me is that he doesn't know where he's going to be next year. Most places won't sign leases by the month. That wouldn't be a problem if his mind was already made up where he will play next year.

I'd be surprised if his landlord/rental company wouldn't extend his lease another month until he makes his decision.

If nothing else, this shows that he's not confident he'll be staying in Portland.
