Simple Draft Question.....
Do you believe that the Blazers' top draft pick might be predicated upon who they will (guaranteed) trade?
For example, might the Blazers draft Morrison if and only if they're "absolutely sure" Miles will be gone?

Re: Simple Draft Question.....
I think its almost a given that Miles WILL be gone
and they will draft the best player avalable at #4............. Aldridge

Re: Simple Draft Question.....
I think it's far from a given Miles will be gone. Patterson has to do three VERY difficult things to ensure it happens:
1) Find a willing team.
2) Find a good player (or players) to get in return.
3) Get Paul to sign off on trading Darius (might not be hard if he IS selling the team).

You would hope there was some "method to the madness" in who we pick in regards to what other players we have in the same positions. However, with this years draft being a toss up, perhaps you just draft the best and try to configure the roster thru trades after the fact. I feel that the Blazers won't have too many deals to try as most teams won't want our players. So, the Blazers better grab what they can when they can.
Peace

Re: Simple Draft Question.....
I agree with TB. There is no chance Miles will be a Trail Blazer in October. If it comes down to it, I think Patterson would trade him for anyone/any draft pick. Miles has got to go, no question about it.

Nope. I've long thought this was a 4 player draft. And being at #4 we'll likely take who ever is left over out of the Bargnani, Morrison, Tyrus Thomas, Aldridge bunch. Regardless of who's on the team.

With the likely trades involving Miles, #2 is not a lock:
To NY for Jerome James
or
To LA for Chris Mihm and Aaron McKie.
Let's just cut our losses w/D.Miles and move on...

Re: Simple Draft Question.....
Miles will be gone. If you read the articles written recently about Joel they all say that he has been assured of a different attitude with the team this year. I would imagine if Morrison is drafted then Webster would play the 2, if Roy is drafted (after the chorus of boos) Webster would play the 3, If Bargnani or Aldridge is drafted then Zach might be gone as well

Re: Simple Draft Question.....
I would go #4 , Jack and possibly # 31 (which will probably be a caca player anyway).

Yet others, including Blazer's management, have proclaimed this a SIX player draft. Add in Rudy Gay and Brandon Roy.
If so, Portland will have a choice to make when their turn comes up. If they have 2 or 3 players essentially tied on their board, do they then make position their deciding factor? Or something else?
I think that is a valid question.
